Abstract

Cervantes’ Don Quixote or Critical Metaliterature Cervantes’ Don Quixote is presented by the author as a critic of knightly romances. It sets in place a bookish folly that contradicts the logics of the world surrounding the protagonist. This main theme is not the only way to denounce the incongruities of the literary genres which are at the core of the author’s criticism. The story is full of scenes dealing with literary criticism; the final symbol of which is the examination of Don Quixote’s library.
