The paper describes a DP-program for the steady-state and unsteady state simulation of chemical engineering processes. The basis of the system is a modular structure, as realized in the input, mathematical description and output of the respective process unit. The system allows units micro-units to be grouped to macro-units for handling multi-stage equipments such as columns, multi-stage reactors

In addition to the state-of-the-art sequential methods for mathematical solution, simultaneous equation-based methods are also available for the simultaneous solution of the balance equations of the macro- units or the simultaneous solution of the whole flowsheeting problem. This permits both steady-state and unsteady state simulation problems to be solved using only one DP-system. (A)
