The purpose of this study was to examine the difference in tourist satisfaction based on demographic characteristics among tourists who visited Nakhon Si Thammarat, a second-tier province in Thailand. A quantitative method was employed in which data were collected from 356 tourists using convenience sampling. Online-based self-administered questionnaires were distributed through social media platforms. Independent samples t-test and one-way ANOVA were used to evaluate hypotheses. There were significant differences in tourist satisfaction based on age, gender, educational level, and occupation. The findings imply that local business owners should serve tourists with appropriate attributes across various demographic groups. The study also provides important insights for researchers to further understand the differences in tourist satisfaction based on demographic variables. Particularly, government agencies and policy makers should recognize that there are differences in tourist satisfaction based on demographic characteristics. This study also contributes to the current literature as it extends the expectancy disconfirmation theory. Finally, this study highlights some limitations that open up avenues for future research.

It is becoming increasingly important for destination managers to identify the variables which attract and retain their current and potential clientele. The segmentation of golf travellers into homogeneous markets allows for the comparison of consumer variables by groups and can assist management in formulating consumer-oriented marketing strategies. The current study utilised experience use history (EUH) to create distinct, identifiable segments of golf travellers by examining their past behaviour and experience levels. This allowed the consideration of differences between the segments with regard to overall satisfaction, perceived value and intention to repurchase a golf vacation. Results revealed that golf travellers with diferent EUHs difiered in both their overall satisfaction and intentions to revisit the destination. Specific managerial implications are discussed.

The purpose of the current study was to examine the relationships between satisfaction, perceived value, and quality in their prediction of intentions to repurchase and positive word of mouth publicity. These constructs have been examined from three distinctly different perspectives, resulting in three competing models. Thus, the satisfaction model, perceived value model, and quality model were utilized to assess which one best explains cruise passengers’behavioral intentions. Results revealed that the quality model most accurately fit the data and that quality was the best predictor of intentions to repurchase. Quality was found to have both a moderated and direct effect on behavioral intentions. Specific theoretical and managerial implications are discussed.

Literature suggests that the antecedents of complaining involve more than dissatisfaction alone; several other factors affect consumers' propensity to complain. This study examined the effects of personality and behavioral factors on consumers' propensity to complain. Findings suggest that consumers' locus of control and their price consciousness have a significant impact on their propensity to complain. Theoretical and managerial implications of these findings are discussed in detail. © 2007 International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education.

Excellent service is the foundation for services marketing, contend Leonard Berry and A. Parasuraman in this companion volume to "Delivering Quality Service." Building on eight years of research, the authors develop a model for understanding the relationship between quality and marketing in services and offer dozens of practical insights into ways to improve services marketing. They argue that superior service cannot be manufactured in a factory, packaged, and delivered intact to customers. Though an innovative service concept may give a company an initial edge, superior quality is vital to sustaining success. Berry and Parasuraman show that inspired leadership, a customer-minded corporate culture, an excellent service-system design, and effective use of technology and information are crucial to superior service quality and services marketing. When a company's service is excellent, customers are more likely to perceive value in transactions, spread favorable word-of-mouth impressions, and respond positively to employee-cross-selling efforts. The authors point out that a service company that does relatively little pre-sales marketing but is truly dedicated to delivering excellent quality service will have greater marketing effectiveness, higher customer retention, and more sales to existing customers than a company that emphasizes pre-sale marketing but falls short during actual service delivery. The focus of any company, they insist, must be customer satisfaction through integration of service quality throughout the entire system. Filled with examples, stories, and insights from senior executives, Berry and Parasuraman's new framework for effective marketing servicescontains the key to high-performance services marketing.

The primary aims of this article are to examine the rationale behind the emergence of customer satisfaction as an explicit corporate objective in retail banking and to postulate the view that if it is to be attained it will necessitate wide-ranging cultural change on a hitherto unprecedented scale. This change will in essence witness the emergence of retail banks as highly cost- sensitive, marketing-oriented organisations. In the process they will become increasingly externally driven, anticipating and responding to customer needs, in terms ofproduct development and delivery systems. Thereby they will recognise that customer service is fundamentally an externally driven strategy, being a response partly to increased competition and partly to increased demands from customers.
