-Design Combustion Engine CMT Feedback on Ecalibration Tools applied on ECFM Combustion model

Abstract

After our experience with Ecalibration to design combustion engine, we can point out numerous benefits. One of most important aspects when working with our models is related to the time saving. With Ecalibration, the number of executions to calibrate our complete engine simulations decrease drastically, going from 15 to 3 (or even less). In this way, it allows a very fast calibration that reduces the need for guesswork, numerous of trial-and-error tests and especially to get a better grasp of the physical models and to improve them. Thereby alleviating the workload of the researchers and engineers while offering actionable information that can translate into more efficient and more competitive combustion engines (euro-norm 7). Furthermore, it allows to know about the sensibility of the calibration parameters. This is specially useful to reinforce the knowledge besides to narrowing the range of variation of the considered parameters. Finally, it should be emphasized the efficiency of APPEDGE as well as the professionalism and competence during the pursuit of this research in the frame of the collaboration with ARAMCO and CMT-Motores Térmicos.

After our experience with Ecalibration to design combustion engine, we can point out numerous
benefits.
One of most important aspects when working with our models is related to the time saving. With
Ecalibration, the number of executions to calibrate our complete engine simulations decrease
drastically, going from 15 to 3 (or even less).
In this way, it allows a very fast calibration that reduces the need for guesswork, numerous of trial-
and-error tests and especially to get a better grasp of the physical models and to improve them.
Thereby alleviating the workload of the researchers and engineers while offering actionable
information that can translate into more efficient and more competitive combustion engines (euro -
norm 7).
Furthermore, it allows to know about the sensibility of the calibration parameters. This is specially
useful to reinforce the knowledge besides to narrowing the range of variation of the considered
parameters.
Finally, it should be emphasized the efficiency of APPEDGE as well as the
professionalism and competence during the pursuit of this research in the frame of the collaboration
with ARAMCO and CMT - Motores Térmicos.
