Abstract

Microbreaks are an efficient way to integrate recovery in the daily work of professionals. A brief mindfulness intervention was used to examine whether mindfulness is directly associated with processes of recovery. In addition, underlying mechanisms of mindfulness were identified. In the randomized field experiment (RCT), 131 participants were assigned to either an intervention or a wait-list control group. Taken together, this study ist pointing towards loss and gain spirals of affective states, which are associated with mindfulness and recovery. Results verify mindfulness as an affective micro-recovery-strategy for professionals.
