Kerem Bayraktaroglu’s The Muslim World in Post-9/11 American Cinema: A Critical Study, 2001-2011 provides a rich and comprehensive “comparative study,” in terms of the number of movies spotlighted and the critical works presented to frame the study. The book explores in details post-9/11 American cinematic scene and its handling of the intrinsically different “Other.” The era covered (2001–2011) is detachedly investigated to offer a critical vision – neither – seeking out a fair contribution to the efforts advancing “further knowledge and understanding of different cultures so that the world will be more favorable for all” (p. 6).
