Abstract and Figures

Modern information systems are able to collect event data in the form of event logs. Process mining techniques allow to discover a model from event data, to check the conformance of an event log against a reference model, and to perform further process-centric analyses. In this paper, we consider uncertain event logs, where data is recorded together with explicit uncertainty information. We describe a technique to discover a directly-follows graph from such event data which retains information about the uncertainty in the process. We then present experimental results of performing inductive mining over the directly-follows graph to obtain models representing the certain and uncertain part of the process.

Recent breakthroughs in process mining research make it possible to discover, analyze, and improve business processes based on event data. The growth of event data provides many opportunities but also imposes new challenges. Process mining is typically done for an isolated well-defined process in steady-state. However, the boundaries of a process may be fluid and there is a need to continuously view event data from different angles. This paper proposes the notion of process cubes where events and process models are organized using different dimensions. Each cell in the process cube corresponds to a set of events and can be used to discover a process model, to check conformance with respect to some process model, or to discover bottlenecks. The idea is related to the well-known OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) data cubes and associated operations such as slice, dice, roll-up, and drill-down. However, there are also significant differences because of the process-related nature of event data. For example, process discovery based on events is incomparable to computing the average or sum over a set of numerical values. Moreover, dimensions related to process instances (e.g. cases are split into gold and silver customers), subprocesses (e.g. acquisition versus delivery), organizational entities (e.g. backoffice versus frontoffice), and time (e.g., 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013) are semantically different and it is challenging to slice, dice, roll-up, and drill-down process mining results efficiently.

In the last two decades, almost any place has become a tourist destination, reflecting the value of their resources, whatever they are (nature, rural, mountain, cultural, gastronomic, industrial, etc.). Yet, neither all of them were prepared for such purpose, nor the results that were expected have been achieved, with regard to developers and administration prospects. The aim of this paper is to analyze the evolution of tourism in La Rioja (Spain), a region which joined this sector very late, specifically, from the second half of the 1990s. To carry out this paper, secondary sources have been used. The literature on this subject is really sparse so, we have based the research on statistical sources, as well as, on the policy of institutional agencies and the actions taken by tourism stakeholders.

ABSTRACT The national wine sector confronts as one of its main problems, backwardness competitive in terms of their degree of participation in national and international markets as well as a declination in their level of production. This requires the elaboration of an international economic diagnostic, which is carried out as objective in the present article. The methodology assesses the influence of external factors on the formation of relative prices, and implements of an elasticities model to estimate the potential demand, if excise taxes on production and services (IEPS) were eliminated. As a result, is observed a serious waste of productive potential due to uncompetitive prices, structural constraints in wine valleys, unequal international trade conditions, and an excessive tax burden.

ABSTRACT In this paper a Knowledge Based System (KBS) for recommendation of Venezuelan tourist information is presented, which handles the knowledge about the tourism sector of the country and the user preferences related to the destinations, attractions and types of accommodation. The KBS was developed using the CommonKADS methodology. Tests show that this system is able to provide personalized recommendations, as well as providing information about items recommended.

This paper introduces a hybrid recommender system, based on both content and communiy of users, to suggest places according to user's interests. The content has been automatically extracted from official web page of each place. We remark the promising results obtained when the official web site provides descriptive content. Our experiments have been performed on the Contextual Suggestion Track dataset from TREC 2014, a competitive task where information about users is very sparse and recommendations must come from only GPS coordinates and few additional information. © 2015 Sociedad Española para el Procesamiento del Lenguaje Natural.

Whereas the main focus of process discovery is on the control-flow perspective, event logs may contain a wealth of information relating to other perspectives such as the organizational perspective, the case perspective, and the time perspective. Therefore, we now shift our attention to these other perspectives. Organizational mining can be used to get insight into typical work patterns, organizational structures, and social networks. Timestamps and frequencies of activities can be used to identify bottlenecks and diagnose other performance related problems. Case data can be used to better understand decision-making and analyze differences among cases. Moreover, the different perspectives can be merged into a single model providing an integrated view on the process. Such an integrated model can be used for “what if” analysis using simulation.
