Abstract

South Jiangxi is a typical mountainous area, and it is also a severe water shortage area. Generally, high-quality mineral water flows out of the ground on both sides of mountain valleys. Ningdu County is located in the northern part of South Jiangxi and has the typical geomorphological features and structural features of South Jiangxi. Taking Ningdu County as an example, the authors investigated the distribution and exposure patterns of mineral water. Through regional geological survey, hydrogeological conditions analysis and water quality analysis, it is found that the type of mineral water is mainly silicic acid mineral water, with content of 30.72~48.56 mg/L, the water chemistry type is HCO 3 -Ca•Na type water, the water temperature is generally lower than 25 °C, and the total dissolved solids are less than 153.53 mg/L, thus belonging to low mineralization cold mineral springs. The fault structure provides hydrodynamic conditions for the formation of mineral water, and also provides a good space for the transfer and storage of mineral water. The topography and landform are dominated by eroded structural hilly hills. Large runoff and deep cutting conditions promote the enrichment of metasilicic acid in groundwater. The high content of SiO 2 in granite provides a material basis for mineral water, and has a high degree of weathering, fissure development, and water-rock interaction.

Since 2016, China Geological Survey of the Ministry of Natural Resources have been carrying out poverty alleviation work focusing on the needs of the development of characteristic agriculture, drinking water safety, green mining, special tourism, etc. It has given full play to its professional advantages in carrying out land quality geochemical survey, hydrogeological survey, mineral geological survey, comprehensive resource utilization survey, geological heritage survey, geological environmental survey and other surveys. The Poverty Alleviation Work for supporting old revolutionary areas in south Ganzhou have already achieved the actual effect: it has formed a clear feature of the "geological survey + poverty alleviation" model, and explored a unique "Geological Survey +" new way for poverty alleviation.

The distribution areas of red bed basin in southern Jiangxi Province are always deemed as the areas with serious shortage of groundwater, and drinking water in all cities and towns is sourced from surface water bodies. With the social progress, economic development and increasing demand for better life, stable supply of high-quality drinking water has become one of the livelihood issues with the fastest demand growth in the old revolutionary areas. In accordance with the uniform deployment of the former Ministry of Land and Resources, China Geological Survey commenced the hydrogeological survey work in seven counties in southern Jiangxi Province in 2017 for the purpose of achieving poverty alleviation and overcoming the difficulties of water exploration. By means of accurate instance analysis of groundwater exploration and summarization about results of large-scale hydrogeological survey, this paper summarizes the main causes for seasonal, pollution-induced and construction-induced water storage in Xingguo County on the basis of comprehensive analysis of practical theory of water replenishment, catchment, impoundment, diversion via structures and intaking through drilling in the bedrock mountain areas; on such a basis, three models of water-storing structures based on driving force of groundwater were presented in an innovative manner, i.e., replenishment - retaining, vegetation conservation, and invasion-expansion-delivery, which further enriches the theory of water-storing structure; moreover, this paper analyzes and summarizes five different directions for water exploration in the water-deficient areas, i.e., weathering fissure water, grike pore water, interlayer fissure water, structure fissure water and ancient channel pore water in those areas where different aquifer groups are distributed. Through practices, it has been proved that the above-mentioned models of water- storing structure and directions of water exploration can help to determine the target regions quickly and play a significant role in water exploration in the red bed distribution areas suffering serious water shortage.
