The goal of this study is to obtain a deep understanding of the impact of customer loyalty programs on customer retention. This study was applied to Jordanian customers. The study investigates the impact of independent variable; loyalty programs: point system, tier system reward, charges an upfront fee for VIP benefits and non-monetary programs, on the dependent variable: customer retention. To achieve the objective of the study, a survey was conducted to collect data from the sample. In total (350) questionnaires were distributed randomly to Jordanian customers who could be reached by the researchers, and were contacted through friends, relatives, students and local malls. The participants had different social, educational, and occupational backgrounds. Response rate was (81.14%) Percent. The findings clearly show: there is significant evidence of the effect of all loyalty programs on building and maintaining customer retention. The major effect was for Tier system reward followed by charge Up-front fee for VIP benefits, and then point system, the weakest effect was for Non-monetary programs.

There have been significant changes evident across the retail sector over the last 20 years, which have been primarily influenced by technological advancements. These changes have forced many retailers to rethink their business models and utilise a combination of both brick and mortar stores and online domains to present an integrated shopping experience. In order to gain an understanding of how customer satisfaction is increased through omni-channel retailing, we collected data through survey research, specifically through semi-structured interviews and questionnaires. In order to generate concise and accurate findings, the data were analysed using thematic analysis. From this analysis, three themes were generated. The first theme explores the reasoning behind preferred shopping methods and what influences these customers' purchase methods. The second theme explores customers' personal preference and investigates the potential of using virtual reality as a method for increasing customer satisfaction. Finally, the third theme looks into utilising interactive technology to create a diversified user experience. This theme explores the potential of utilising a communication platform for customers and also designing a tangible interface for disabled customers. This study has opened up an opportunity for future research and has outlined potential design insights in how to improve customer experience and customer purchase intentions.

Ample body of evidence suggests the presence of a direct relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) orientation and firm performance. However, this finding seems spurious and imprecise, likely due to missing intervening factors that mediate this relationship. This gap in pertinent literature has motivated the present study, as a part of which customer satisfaction and customer loyalty were examined as two probable mediators in the relationship between CSR orientation and firm performance. The findings yielded by surveying the representatives of 326 Saudi Arabian businesses that have extensive business-to-business (B2B) operations across the Middle East and African (MEA) markets revealed that the link between CSR and firm performance is a fully mediated relationship. We found that firms' pursuit of CSR orientation positively affects firm performance, which is sequentially mediated by customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. These findings suggest a role CSR orientation plays in indirectly promoting firm performance by enhancing customer satisfaction as well as customer loyalty. Therefore, as business and society are two intertwined, mutually interdependent entities, business owners are responsible for all stakeholders (e.g., employees, customers, suppliers, and community), and this stakeholder-driven CSR orientation leads to sustainable firm performance.
The customer experience literature has largely focused on experiences at a single service touchpoint. Comparatively little attention has been given to the customer experience across stages of the purchase journey. Building on memory-dominant logic, this study proposes a conceptual framework to investigate interrelationships between three dimensions of the service experience (i.e., brand experience, service provider experience, and post-purchase experience), memorability, subjective well-being, and repurchase intention. Two studies were conducted. Study 1 examined the conceptual relationships with a restaurant sample; Study 2 was conducted with a hotel sample to improve external validity. Results differed slightly across these studies: whereas the impacts of the service provider experience and post-purchase experience on memorability were consistently supported across both samples, the brand experience was not significant for the restaurant sample. Findings also revealed the mediating role of memorability. Implications for academics and practitioners are discussed.
The main objective of the study is to determine the level of dependence between relationship marketing and the level of customer loyalty to the brand. The study was conducted through a quantitative approach using the CAWI method. Relationships were determined by several factors. The loyalty factors are: Differentiation, Personalization, Satisfaction, Loyalty, usually. The relationship marketing indicators are: Trust, Commitment, Customer Satisfaction, Intention to renew the relationship. The survey results were processed using statistical methods. In particular, internal consistency checks performed on the questionnaire with questions to use Cronbach’s alpha. The use of such criteria allows to draw conclusions about the high level of consistency. The coefficient of determination was used for statistical verification of dependence. The results of the calculations confirmed a high level of dependence. Dependence was also confirmed by calculating p-values with a high level of probability. Conclusions were drawn according to the results of the empirical investigation.
The revolution in the digital economy is forcing the retail pharmacy industry to develop new business models to achieve operational excellence. A large amount of user-generated content on social media can be captured and analysed to help organisations gain insights into market requirements and enhance business intelligence. Accordingly, this study proposes an analytic framework for retail pharmacy organisations to: a) use social media and highlight the most-discussed topics by consumers, b) to identify the key areas for improvement based on the most negative comments received, and c) to determine the connections amongst the important concepts and enhance customer loyalty by adding values to consumers. We conduct an in-depth analysis on the Twitter platforms of the three largest retail pharmacy organisations in the UK: Boots, Lloyds and Superdrug. The findings show that issues with marketing, customer service and product are the key improvement areas for the retail pharmacies. Particularly, Boots received an overall better sentiment performance than Lloyds and Superdrug. We also determine the relationships amongst the important concepts discussed by consumers. The analysis generates insights into the use of social media for supporting pharmacy organisations in developing their social media strategies as well as improving their operations and service quality.

This paper reports on consumer behaviour study, which use cluster analysis to segment mobile application users based on their e-loyalty behaviour in online shopping platform. Online survey was conducted to 300 respondents who have joined e-loyalty programs from at least one of the following platforms i.e. e-commerce, ride-hailing, online payment or online travel. Simple random sampling was used to determine the sample size. The results show that there are three segments formed, they are, Special-treatment seeker, monetary-value seeker, and brand-advocates. Brand-advocates segment is seen as the most favourable segment as most of loyal customer classified to this category, and they are most likely to promote the brand and spread positive word-of-mouth. Managerial recommendations of loyalty programs that best fit each segment's demographic and behaviour are presented in the paper.

Attracting customers through reward programs is the primary key success for customer-oriented organizations. One of the most famous customer reward programs is applying price discount. In our negotiation-based cloud resource allocation problem, discount price is offered based on both status of a provider and behavior (or loyalty class) of a customer. That is, a resource customer who has appropriate buying behavior and negotiates for resource type instances with high necessity to sell is deserved to receive high price discount from provider. To do this, first, three customer’s loyalty classes are defined and customers are classified into theses classes in terms of their previous buying behavior using fuzzy system in name FCLCDS. Second, another fuzzy system in name FNTSVMTDS is designed to determine the value of necessity to sell resource type. The outputs of FCLCDS and FNTSVMTDS are called Loyalty Class (LC) and Necessity to Sell VM Type (NtSVMT), respectively. Finally, a fuzzy system in name FDCDS is proposed to determine the discount coefficient based on both LC and NtSVMT inputs. Furthermore, appropriate times for calculating/re-calculating the discount coefficients that are applied by a resource provider to relax its counter-offers are calculated. We perform extensive simulation experiments to compare our designed negotiator in name FDMDA with MDA and FNSSA. The results show that our designed FDMDA outperforms MDA and FNSSA.
Point system is structured marketing strategy offered by retailers to motivate customers to keep buying goods or paying for the services. However, current point system is not enough for reflecting where points come from. In this paper, concept of point classification is put forward. Points are divided into different categories based on source. We introduce mission into point system. Mission content is designed to guide consumption. In our system, point, mission and virtual pet will be spatially visualized using AR technique. The state of virtual pet depends on the evaluation for users. Users need to adjust themselves to keep their pets in a good state. Users can manipulate on the GUI or use gestures to interact with system.

An understanding of how to manage relationships with customers effectively has become an important topic for both academicians and practitioners in recent years. However, the existing academic literature and the practical applications of customer relationship management (CRM) strategies do not provide a clear indication of what specifically constitutes CRM processes. In this study, the authors (1) conceptualize a construct of the CRM process and its dimensions, (2) operationalize and validate the construct, and (3) empirically investigate the organizational performance consequences of implementing CRM processes. Their research questions are addressed in two cross-sectional studies across four different industries and three countries. The first key outcome is a theoretically sound CRM process measure that outlines three key stages: initiation, maintenance, and termination. The second key result is that the implementation of CRM processes has a moderately positive association with both perceptual and objective company performance.

Companies that offer loyalty reward programs believe that their programs have a long-run positive effect on customer evaluations and behavior. However, if loyalty rewards pro- grams increase relationship durations and usage levels, customers will be increasingly exposed to the complete spectrum of service experiences, including experiences that may cause customers to switch to another service pro- vider. Using cross-sectional, time-series data from a worldwide financial services company that offers a loyalty reward program, this article investigates the conditions under which a loyalty rewards program will have a posi - tive effect on customer evaluations, behavior, and repeat purchase intentions. The results show that members in the loyalty reward program overlook or discount negative evaluations of the company vis-à-vis competition. One possible reason could be that members of the loyalty re - wards program perceive that they are getting better quality and service for their price or, in other words, "good value."

Customer loyalty presents a paradox. Many see it as primarily an attitude-based phenomenon that can be influenced significantly by customer relationship management initiatives such as the increasingly popular loyalty and affinity programs. However, empirical research shows that loyalty in competitive repeat-purchase markets is shaped more by the passive acceptance of brands than by strongly-held attitudes about them. From this perspective, the demand-enhancing potential of loyalty programs is more limited than might be hoped. Reviews three different perspectives on loyalty, and relates these to a framework for understanding customer loyalty that encompasses customer brand commitment, customer brand acceptance and customer brand buying. Uses this framework to analyze the demand-side potential of loyalty programs. Discusses where these programs might work and where they are unlikely to succeed on any large scale. Provides a checklist for marketers.
Customer switching behavior damages market share and profitability of service firms yet has remained virtually unexplored in the marketing literature. The author reports results of a critical incident study conducted among more than 500 service customers. The research identifies more than 800 critical behaviors of service firms that caused customers to switch services. Customers’ reasons for switching services were classified into eight general categories. The author then discusses implications for further model development and offers recommendations for managers of service firms.
Despite the proliferation of loyalty programs in a wide range of categories, there is little empirical research that focuses on the measurement of such programs. The key to measuring the influence of loyalty programs is that they operate as dynamic incentive schemes by providing benefits based on cumulative purchasing over time. As such, loyalty programs encourage consumers to shift from myopic or single-period decision making to dynamic or multiple-period decision making. In this study, the author models customers' response to a loyalty program under the assumption that purchases represent the sequential choices of customers who are solving a dynamic optimization problem. The author estimates the theoretical model using a discrete-choice dynamic programming formulation. The author evaluates a specific loyalty program with data from an online merchant that specializes in grocery and drugstore items. Through simulation and policy experiments, it is possible to evaluate and compare the long-term effects of the loyalty program and other marketing instruments (e.g., e-mail coupons, fulfillment rates, shipping fees) on customer retention. Empirical results and policy experiments suggest that the loyalty program under study is successful in increasing annual purchasing for a substantial proportion of customers.
New research suggests that the role of service in customer retention is more critical than ever in the 1990s. The Forum Corporation recently embarked on a large-scale research project in North America, Asia and Europe to find out how today’s customers define quality in relation to sales and service. Describes the initial findings about service, and their implications for organizations. One of the main conclusions is that service needs to become a collective organizational responsibility rather than the function of a single department.
We examine the conditions that enhance the economic viability of frequency reward programs in a strategic competitive environment. We focus particularly on conditions related to consumer behavior, namely the extent to which consumers value the future benefits offered by the reward, the expandability of the category, and consumers' preferences for competing brands. Consumers maximize utility over a long-term time horizon, taking into account the value of the reward. Two firms maximize profits over a long-term time horizon. They first decide between implementing a frequency reward program or a traditional pricing policy (a constant price), and then decide on the specific prices. We numerically solve for the sub-game perfect equilibrium for this two-stage game. We find that a brand is more likely to find reward programs to be viable strategies if consumers value future benefits, if reward programs can expand the market, and if the brand has a higher preference. The market expandability finding is particularly interesting. If the sales increases generated by reward programs represent category growth, the power of frequency reward programs makes them an effective vehicle for generating profits. However, if gains come mainly from competitors, the power of frequency reward programs precipitates a strong competitive response that erodes profits in a classic prisoner's dilemma. We use the airline industry to explore our market expandability finding. We find evidence that the "major" airlines introduced reward programs to counter-act a stronger outside category (new entrants), and in doing so, they expanded their market.
