In today's competitive world, a big challenge for organisations is to retain their employees. This can be achieved by effective employee engagement, a multidimensional concept. Reviews suggest that engaged employees are productive and satisfied at work. This research study is an effort to understand how employee engagement is associated with employee job satisfaction. Purposive sampling is done among 123 school teachers in Chennai using Gallup's Employee Engagement Scale and Overall Brief Job Satisfaction Measure II. The result indicates that there is a positive correlation between employee engagement and job satisfaction. The findings imply that women are more engaged and satisfied at work in comparison with men. This study has also recommended measures to improve employee engagement using the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) among teachers.
