Abstract and Figures

The domains of learning can be categorized as cognitive domain (knowledge), psychomotor domain (skills) and affective domain (attitudes). This categorization is best explained by the Taxonomy of Learning Domains formulated by a group of researchers led by Benjamin Bloom along with in 1956. The domains of learning were first developed and described between 1956-1972. Some references attribute all of the domains to Benjamin Bloom which is simply not true. While Bloom was involved in describing both the cognitive and the affective domains, he appeared as first author on the cognitive domain. As a result, this bore his name for years and was commonly known among educators as Bloom’s Taxonomy even though his colleague David Krathwohl was a partner on the 1956 publication.

Abstract
The domains of learning can be categorized as cognitive domain (knowledge),
psychomotor domain (skills) and affective domain (attitudes). This categorization is best
explained by the Taxonomy of Learning Domains formulated by a group of researchers led
by Benjamin Bloom along with in 1956. The domains of learning were first developed and
described between 1956-1972. Some references attribute all of the domains to Benjamin
Bloom which is simply not true. While Bloom was involved in describing both the cognitive
and the affective domains, he appeared as first author on the cognitive domain. As a result,
this bore his name for years and was commonly known among educators as Bloom’s
Taxonomy even though his colleague David Krathwohl was a partner on the 1956 publication.
Introduction
Learning is everywhere. We can learn mental skills, develop our attitudes and acquire
new physical skills as we perform the activities of our daily living. Learning is not an event.
It is a process. It is the continual growth and change in the brain's architecture that results
from the many ways we take in information, process it, connect it, catalogue it, and use it
(and sometimes get rid of it). Learning can generally be categorized into three domains:
cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. Within each domain are multiple levels of learning
that progress from more basic, surface-level learning to more complex, deeper-level learning.
It is interesting to note that while the cognitive taxonomy was described in 1956, and the
affective in 1964, the psychomotor domain were not fully described until the 1970s.
When publishing the description of the affective domain in 1964 Krathwohl was
named as first author, but Bloom also worked on developing this work. Krathwohl’s
involvement in the development of the cognitive domain will be become important when you
look at the authors of the 2001 revisions to this taxonomy. And while I have chosen to use the
work of Anita Harrow here, there are actually two other psychomotor taxonomies to choose
from one from E. J. Simpson (1972) and the other from R.H. Dave (1975).

A. Cognitive Domain
The cognitive domain contains learning skills predominantly related to mental
(thinking) processes. Learning processes in the cognitive domain include a hierarchy of skills
involving processing information, constructing understanding, applying knowledge, solving
problems, and conducting research. There are six levels of cognitive complexity: knowledge,
comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, evaluation. Bloom’s taxonomy focused on
describing levels of attainments rather than process skills, and did not substantially address
the manner in which the learner proceeds from one level to the next. The cognitive domain
includes skill clusters that organize a complete, concise, and complementary listing of the
learning skills most critical for each process. The newer version (2001) of Bloom’s
Taxonomy of Learning has a number of added features that can be very useful to educators as
they try to construct optimal learning experiences.

In the chart shown, the higher the
level, the presumably more complex
mental operation is required. Higher
levels are not necessarily more desirable
than lower levels, because one cannot
achieve the higher levels without an ability
to use the lower levels. As one moves up
into higher levels, however, the more
applicable the skills are to those needed in
daily life. The cognitive domain contains
learning skills predominantly related to

The cognitive domain involves the development of our mental skills and the acquisition of
knowledge. The six categories under this domain are:
1. Knowledge: Knowledge is the ability to recall data and/or information.
Example: A child recites the English alphabet.
2. Comprehension: Comprehension is the ability to understand the meaning of what is
known. Example: A teacher explains a theory in his own words.
3. Application: Application is the ability to utilize an abstraction or to use knowledge
in a new situation. Example: A nurse intern applies what she learned in her
Psychology class when she talks to patients.
4. Analysis: the ability to differentiate facts and opinions.
Example: A lawyer was able to win over a case after recognizing logical fallacies in
the reasoning of the offender.
5. Synthesis: Synthesis the ability to integrate different elements or concepts in order to
form a sound pattern or structure so a new meaning can be established.
Examples: A therapist combines yoga, biofeedback and support group therapy in
creating a care plan for his patient.
6. Evaluation: Evaluation is the ability to come up with judgments about the importance
of concepts. Examples: A businessman selects the most efficient way of selling
products.

Activities at Different Levels:
Bloom‟s taxonomy of learning objectives is used to define how well a skill or
competency is learned or mastered. A fuller description of Bloom‟s taxonomy is given in the
following pages but a brief summary of the activities associated with each level is given
below:
1. At Knowledge Level of Learning a student can define terms.
2. At Comprehension Level of Learning a student can work assigned problems and
can example what they did.
3. At Application Level of Learning a student recognizes what methods to use and
then use the methods to solve problems.
4. At Analysis Level of Learning a student can explain why the solution process
works.
5. At Synthesis Level of Learning a student can combine the part of a process in new
and useful ways.
6. At Evaluation Level of Learning a student can create a variety of ways to solve
the problem and then, based on established criteria, select the solution method best
suited for the problem.
Teachers and learners need to understand the hierarchy of processes and skills within
the cognitive domain so they appreciate prerequisite skills for learning as well as the way
these skills need to be transformed to master more complicated elements of discipline-
specific concept inventories. Development of learning skills should never be taken for
granted in teaching or learning new content. Skills associated with lower-level processes
should be introduced in foundation courses and elevated in intermediate-level
coursework. Skills associated with higher-level processes should be thoughtfully
introduced and reinforced in upper-division courses. Methodically invoking key learning
skills from different process areas and clusters across the cognitive domain also provides
a method for infusing richness in course activities while strengthening lifelong learning
skills. Like the Social Domain, this module serves to remind us that improved cognitive
domain performance is always possible, no matter what one’s state of learning skill
development.
B. Affective Domain
Most people think of learning as an intellectual or mental function. However, learning
is not a just a cognitive (mental) function. You can also learn attitudes, behaviors, and
physical skills.The affective domain involves our feelings, emotions and attitudes. The

This domain includes the manner in which we deal with things emotionally, such as
feelings, values, appreciation, enthusiasms, motivations, and attitudes. This domain is
categorized into 5 sub-domains, which include:
(1). Receiving (2) Responding (3) Valuing (4) Organization (5) Characterization
1. Receiving Phenomena: The receiving is the awareness of feelings, emotions, and the
ability to utilize selected attention. Example: Listening attentively to a friend.
Listening attentively to someone; watching a movie, listening to a lecture; watching
waves crash on the sand.
2. Responding to Phenomena: Responding is active participation of the learner.
Example: Participating in a group discussion. Having a conversation; participating in
a group discussion, giving a presentation, complying with procedures, or following
directions.
3. Valuing: Valuing is the ability to see the worth of something and express it. Valuing
is concerned with the worth you attach to a particular object, phenomenon, behavior,
or piece of information. This level ranges from simple acceptance to the more
complex state of commitment.
Simpler acceptance may include your desire for a team to improve its skills,
while more complex level of commitment may include taking responsibly for the
overall improvement of the team.
Examples: Proposing a plan to improve team skills, supporting ideas to increase
proficiency, or informing leaders of possible issues. It is the ability to see the worth of
something and express it. Example: An activist shares his ideas on the increase in
salary of laborers.
4. Organization: ability to prioritize a value over another and create a unique value
system. Example: A teenager spends more time in her studies than with her boyfriend.
5. Characterization: the ability to internalize values and let them control the person`s
behaviour. Example: A man marries a woman not for her looks but for what she is.

This domain forms a hierarchical structure and is arranged from simpler feelings to
those that are more complex. This hierarchical structure is based on the principle of
internalization. Internalization refers to the process whereby your affect toward something
goes from a general awareness level to a point where the affect is internalized and
consistently guides or controls your behavior. Therefore, with movement to more complexity,
you become more involved, committed, and internally motivated.
C. Psychomotor Domain
Psychomotor objectives are those specific to discreet physical functions, reflex
actions and interpretive movements. It is interesting to note that while the cognitive
taxonomy was described in 1956, and the affective in 1964, the psychomotor domain were
not fully described until the 1970s.

Traditionally, these types of objectives are concerned with the physically encoding of
information, with movement and/or with activities where the gross and fine muscles are used
for expressing or interpreting information or concepts. This area also refers to natural,
autonomic responses or reflexes. The psychomotor domain is comprised of utilizing motor
skills and coordinating them. The seven categories under this include:
1. Perception: the ability to apply sensory information to motor activity. Example: A
cook adjusts the heat of stove to achieve the right temperature of the dish.

2. Set: the readiness to act. Example: An obese person displays motivation in
performing planned exercise.
3. Guided Response: the ability to imitate a displayed behavior or to utilize trial and
error. Example: A person follows the manual in operating a machine.
4. Mechanism: the ability to convert learned responses into habitual actions with
proficiency and confidence. Example: A mother was able to cook a delicious meal
after practicing how to cook it.
5. Complex Overt Response: the ability to skilfully perform complex patterns of
actions. Example: Typing a report on a computer without looking at the keyboard.
6. Adaptation: the ability to modify learned skills to meet special events. Example: A
designer uses plastic bottles to create a dress.
7. Origination: creating new movement patterns for a specific situation. Example: A
choreographer creates a new dance routine.
Other Psychomotor Domains As mentioned earlier, the committee did not produce a
compilation for the psychomotor domain model, but others have. The one discussed above is
by Simpson (1972). There are two other popular versions:
Dave (1975) developed this taxonomy:
Imitation - Observing and copying someone else.
Manipulation - Guided via instruction to perform a skill.
Precision - Accuracy, proportion and exactness exist in the skill performance without
the presence of the original source.
Articulation - Two or more skills combined, sequenced, and performed consistently.
Naturalization - Two or more skills combined, sequenced, and performed consistently
and with ease. The performance is automatic with little physical or mental exertion.
Harrow (1972) developed this taxonomy. It is organized according to the degree of
coordination including involuntary responses and learned capabilities:
Reflex movements - Automatic reactions.
Basic fundamental movement - Simple movements that can build to more complex
sets of movements.
Perceptual - Environmental cues that allow one to adjust movements.
Physical activities - Things requiring endurance, strength, vigor, and agility.
Skilled movements - Activities where a level of efficiency is achieved.
Non-discursive communication - Body language.
Conclusion
Humans are lifelong learners. From birth onward we learn and assimilate what we have
just learned into what we already know. Learning in the Geosciences, like all learning, can be
catagorized into the domains of concept knowledge, how we view ourselves as learners and
the skills we need to engage in the activities of geoscientists. As early as 1956 Educational
Psychologist Benjamin Bloom divided what and how we learn into three separate domains of
learning. Cognitive Domain includes content knowledge and the development of intellectual
skills. This includes the recall or recognition of specific facts and concepts that serve

developing intellectual abilities and skills. There are six major categories, starting from the
simplest behavior (recalling facts) to the most complex (Evaluation). The Affective domain
includes feelings, values, appreciation, enthusiasms, motivations, and attitudes. The
University of Dayton, School of Law Affective Domain website describes each catagory in
the domain and provides illustrative examples and keywords for the cognitive, affective, and
psychomotor domains. The psychomotor domain includes physical movement, coordination,
and use of the motor-skill areas. Development of these skills requires practice and is
measured in terms of speed, precision, distance, procedures, or techniques in execution.

Background: In the healthcare systems of the world, reinforcing the competence and professionalism of nurses has become a concern. Gaining clinical nursing competence in the healthcare system requires more effort, and additional training is required. Medical education and training have begun using digital technologies, such as virtual reality (VR). The purpose of this research was to examine the efficacy of VR in terms of cognitive, emotional, and psychomotor outcomes and learning satisfaction in nurses. Method: The study searched eight databases (Cochrane library, EBSCOHost, Embase, OVID MEDLINE, ProQuest, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science) for articles that met these criteria: (i) nursing staff, (ii) any virtual reality technology intervention for education, all levels of immersion, [1] randomized control trial and quasi-experiment study, and (iv) published articles and unpublished theses. The standardized mean difference was measured. The random effect model was applied to measure the main outcome of the study with a significance level of p < .05. The I2 statistic assessment was applied to identify the level of heterogeneity of the study. Results: A total of 6740 studies were identified, of which 12 studies with 1470 participants met the criteria for inclusion. The meta-analysis showed a significant improvement in the cognitive aspect (standardized mean difference [SMD] = 1.48; 95% CI = 0.33-2.63; p = .011, I2 = 94.88%), the affective aspect (SMD = 0.59; 95% CI = 0.34-0.86; p < .001, I2 = 34.33%), the psychomotor aspect (SMD = 0.901; 95% CI = 0.49-1.31; p < .001, I2 = 80.33%), and learning satisfaction (SMD = 0.47; 95% CI = 0.17-0.77; p = .002, I2 = 0%) aspects of the groups that received the VR intervention compared to the control groups. Subgroup analysis found that dependent variables (e.g., level of immersion) did not improve study outcomes. The quality of evidence was low which is affected by major methodological issues. Conclusions: VR may favorable as alternative method to increase nurse competencies. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on larger samples are needed to strengthen the evidence for the effect of VR in various clinical nurse settings. ROSPERO registration number: CRD42022301260.

In learning, there are three interrelated dimensions to support the learning, namely the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor dimensions. From these learning dimensions, there are learning styles that are included in the cognitive dimension and motivation are included in the affective dimension of learning. This study aims to find out the relationship and influence of motivation and learning style on learning pattern toward speaking improvement of UMPAR English Education students. The researcher applies a qualitative method with a case study approach based on phenomena among students. The respondents in this study consisted of three third-semester students and three fifth-semester students from the English education department UMPAR. In addition, this study conducted semi-structured interviews with students to understand deeper perceptions. The results of the interviews show that there are various student motivations in improving their speaking skills, namely: to train self-confidence, a sense of competition, to develop more, to gain appreciation, presence of a role model, and the support of other people. Apart from motivation, researchers found a learning style that plays a very important role in student learning, namely the auditory learning style with the highest score in all the VARK learning style test results for respondents. The researcher found that there were four classifications of student learning patterns in improving speaking skills, namely: Experience of applying learning media, social interaction, word notice, monologue habits. The results of the research about the influence of motivation and learning styles on learning patterns toward students’ speaking improvement show that there is a positive influence of motivation and learning styles on student learning patterns in improving speaking skills

Today’s curriculum is focused on Higher Order Thinking Skills to improve the quality of learning and the graduates. So that, today the teaching and learning materials and activities for the students are recommended to be implemented. This study is aimed to know the effectiveness of HOTS English module in the English teaching and learning process in MTs Al Falaah Pandak. This is a quasi-experimental study which is implemented pre-test and post-test group design. To collect the data, the researcher used test as the instrument. The data then analyzed used t-test. The result of the study shows that HOTS English module is effective in improving the seventh-grade students’ achievement in learning English in MTs Al Falaah Pandak. The result of two tailed t-test from the data analysis is 0.000. It is smaller than 0.05 which means that Ho is denied. So, it can be concluded that there is significance of the students’ achievement before and after applying HOTS English module in learning English.

Analysis of question items is an assessment of the questions that are evaluated to measure quality. Analysis of question items has two ways, namely quantitative and qualitative question item analysis. The goal to be achieved is to find out the quality of the multiple-choice form of Final Semester Exam questions and also to detect sound and wrong questions. The method used in this study is the quantitative descriptive method. Data collection uses documentation, interviews, and observations. The Excel program uses data analysis to detect the quality of good and bad questions. The results of the quantitative analysis of the reliability of multiple-choice questions of 0.76 mean reliable questions. Difficulty index: 3 medium questions (6%), 47 easy questions (76%), and 9 very easy questions (18%). Discrimination index: 8 questions are very low (16%), 22 questions are low (44%), 9 questions are medium (18%), and t10 questions are high (20%). Distractor efficiency: 125 items of malfunctioning questions (83.33%) and 25 items of functioning questions (16.67%).

span lang="EN-US">The learning characteristic in the 21st century is the availability of information anywhere and anytime. Blended learning (BL) became the most widely used learning strategy in vocational education. However, the problem is the effectiveness of BL on student outcomes. This scoping review provides an overview of the implementation of the BL model on vocational students. The research questions in this review were: i) What type of BL was taken?; ii) How did the BL model works?; and iii) What was improved in student learning outcomes? The research method adopted the scoping review from Arksey & Markey. From the beginning, the research article data was taken from the Scopus database. The article selection using the PRISMA method obtained 32 articles from 4,298 articles. The results of the review showed that there were three types of BL models. The three types of BL were: i) The flipped classroom model; ii) The station-rotation model; and iii) The self-blend model. BL syntax that teachers most favored in nine ways, but mainly with the syntax: “Face-to-face (F2F) finished, after that online learning for enrichment”. Meanwhile, most of the articles improved learning outcomes in the cognitive domain.</span

The study examined the missing links in Nigerian education, religion and culture. It determined stakeholders’ perception of diversity in all ramifications of life. It also examined the best practices to annex the diversity through education for national development and determined the influence of gender on stakeholders’ perception of diversity in Nigeria. These were with the views to providing information on how there could be peaceful coexistence among the diverse sets of people in Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The population for the study consisted of staff and students Universities in Nigeria. The sample size comprised 600 respondents selected using multistage sampling procedure. An instrument was developed, validated and used for the study. Three research questions were raised and answered and one hypothesis was tested and verified. The results among others showed that 51.5% of the respondents indicated positive perception as regards diversity in Nigeria. Also, there was no significance influence of gender on stakeholders’ perception of diversity in Nigeria. The study recommended that government at all levels should evolve cultural and political education and orientation that can further promote unity in diversity.

One of the stages of assessing skills in mathematics is using a performance appraisal instrument, scoring guidelines, and analyzing the quality of the instrument. Mathematical performance assessment tests are carried out through practical methods to assess the learning process on matrix material. This research develops a math performance assessment test on maple application skills, especially on matrix material. The performance assessment test includes using the maple application to understand concepts and solving matrix problems that are carried out before and during the process of practical activities using the maple application. Based on the results of the research analysis obtained, aspects of how to open maple applications in general, there are few mistakes made by students. They include the use of pallets, typing directly, the use of linalg without mistakes, the use of the evaluatem command without, and the correctness of the work.

[EN] Architectural education has been called to become Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) to empower future professionals to make conscious decisions and act responsibly in favour of sustainability. For this, it is essential to understand what is being done and what can be improved in its transformation towards this type of education. However, there are gaps in its knowledge. As a response to this situation, and to facilitate the integration of ESD in the training of future architects, the main objective of this doctoral thesis is (MO) to know the students’ perception regarding the current state of the Spanish qualifying academic program constituted by a bachelor’s and a master’s degree concerning ESD. For this, four specific objectives have been established: (SO1) to determine the degree to which they consider that they have acquired the learning outcomes required to achieve sustainable development, (SO2) to establish the level at which they think that their bachelor’s learning experience has integrated ESD, (SO3) to estimate the level at which they believe that this learning experience has contributed to acquiring the evaluated learning outcomes, and (SO4) to analyse the relationship between the degree of acquisition that they attribute to these learning outcomes and the level of integration of ESD that they assign to their bachelor’s learning experience. To achieve objectives SO1, SO2 and SO3, a descriptive, quantitative, non-experimental and cross-sectional study has been carried out through surveys addressed to students from the Spanish Master's Degree in Architecture (Máster Universitario en Arquitectura). Its distribution has allowed knowing the perception of 282 students from 19 of the 22 schools that offered these studies during the academic year 2020/2021. In addition, to achieve the specific objective SO4, a correlational and a regression analysis of these responses have been developed. From a descriptive point of view, the current state that master's students attribute to the academic program regarding ESD has been defined as "moderate" or "very moderate" (MO): they consider themselves to have a "moderate" degree of acquisition of the analysed learning outcomes (SO1); they think that their bachelor’s learning experience has presented a "very moderate" level of integration of ESD (SO2); and they believe that this learning experience has provided a "moderate" level of contribution to acquiring the evaluated learning outcomes (SO3). From a correlational perspective, the existence of a significant association of medium magnitude and directly proportional has been defined between the degree of acquisition that students attribute to these learning outcomes and the level of ESD integration that they assign to the bachelor’s degree (SO4). In addition, from a causal point of view, the levels of integration of ESD that they attribute to the methods and the contents of formal education have been identified as significant predictors of the degree of acquisition that they assign to the learning outcomes. With all this, a significant contribution has been made to completing the existing knowledge regarding the current state of the Spanish qualifying program constituted by a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the perspective of ESD. Also, concerning the relationship between the level of integration of ESD and the degree of acquisition of the evaluated learning outcomes. In particular, this doctoral thesis has provided valuable information to justify and guide the transformation of this program towards an ESD. Consequently, if the training of future architects qualified in Spain is to be promoted so that they can contribute to the transformation of society towards a more sustainable future, its transformation must be fostered. To achieve this, it will be important to promote decision-making based on the findings of this thesis, on its precedents, and on the complementary results of other approaches to the state of the art. // [ES] La enseñanza de la arquitectura ha sido llamada a convertirse en Educación para el Desarrollo Sostenible (EDS) con el objetivo de empoderar a los futuros profesionales para tomar decisiones conscientes y actuar responsablemente en favor de la sostenibilidad. Para ello, es fundamental comprender qué se está haciendo y qué se puede mejorar en su transformación hacia este tipo de educación. Sin embargo, existen carencias en su conocimiento. Como respuesta a esta situación, y para facilitar la integración de la EDS en la formación de los futuros arquitectos, esta tesis tiene por objetivo principal (OP) conocer la percepción de los alumnos en torno al estado actual del programa académico de grado más máster habilitante de España en relación con la EDS. Para ello, se han establecido cuatro objetivos específicos: (OE1) determinar el grado en el que consideran haber adquirido los resultados de aprendizaje necesarios para lograr un desarrollo sostenible, (OE2) establecer el nivel en el que piensan que su experiencia de aprendizaje en grado ha integrado la EDS, (OE3) estimar el nivel en el que creen que esta experiencia de aprendizaje ha contribuido a que adquiriesen los resultados de aprendizaje evaluados, y (OE4) analizar la relación existente entre el grado de adquisición que atribuyen a estos resultados de aprendizaje y el nivel de integración de la EDS que asignan a su experiencia de aprendizaje en grado. Para lograr los objetivos OE1, OE2 y OE3, se ha llevado a cabo un estudio descriptivo, cuantitativo, no experimental y transversal mediante encuestas dirigidas al alumnado del Máster Universitario en Arquitectura. Su distribución ha permitido conocer la percepción de 282 estudiantes de 19 de las 22 escuelas que ofrecían estos estudios durante el curso 2020/2021. Además, para lograr el objetivo específico OE4, se ha desarrollado un análisis correlacional y de regresión de estas respuestas. Desde un punto de vista descriptivo, el estado actual que los alumnos de máster atribuyen al programa académico respecto a la EDS ha sido definido como "moderado" o "muy moderado" (OP): consideran tener un grado de adquisición "moderado" de los resultados de aprendizaje analizados (OE1); piensan que su experiencia de aprendizaje en grado ha presentado un nivel de integración "muy moderado" de la EDS (OE2); y creen que esta experiencia de aprendizaje ha ofrecido un nivel de contribución "moderado" a la adquisición de los resultados de aprendizaje evaluados (OE3). Desde una perspectiva correlacional, se ha determinado la existencia de una asociación significativa de magnitud media y directamente proporcional entre el grado de adquisición que los alumnos atribuyen a estos resultados de aprendizaje y el nivel de integración de la EDS que asignan al grado (OE4). Además, desde un punto de vista causal, los niveles de integración de la EDS que atribuyen a los métodos y a los contenidos de la enseñanza formal se han identificado como predictores significativos del grado de adquisición que asignan a los resultados de aprendizaje. Con todo ello, se ha contribuido a completar el conocimiento existente en torno al estado actual del programa de grado más máster habilitante de España desde la perspectiva de la EDS. También, respecto a la relación existente entre el nivel de integración de la EDS y el grado de adquisición de los resultados de aprendizaje evaluados. En particular, esta tesis doctoral ha facilitado información valiosa con la que justificar y guiar la transformación de este programa hacia una EDS. En consecuencia, si se quiere promover la capacitación de los futuros arquitectos habilitados en España para contribuir a la transformación de la sociedad hacia un futuro más sostenible, se debe impulsar su transformación. Para lograrlo, será importante promover la toma de decisiones fundamentadas en los hallazgos de esta tesis, en sus antecedentes y en los resultados complementarios de otras aproximaciones al estado de la cuestión.
