Customer satisfaction is the key driver for any organisation to sustain in current competitive era. Service providers need to understand their customers and design their services in such a way that maximum possible satisfaction is attained by the customer. The purpose of the present study is to measure customer satisfaction in the hotels of the Kashmir valley. The study will also provide various suggestions to the customers so as to make their services more efficient and effective. For conducting the survey a well structured Questionnaire is used to collect primary data from the respondents. The sample size for the study is 150 Sample variance and confidence methods are used for Determining sample size. Simple random sampling technique has been adopted by the researcher to collect the data. On the basis of results 40 % of the respondents are highly satisfied with safety and security of the hotel while 20 % are highly dissatisfied with the location of the hotel. With the every attribute the level of satisfaction changes, thus making it clear that customers rate their satisfaction differently with every single attribute .finally it has been proved that the customer satisfaction in the hotels are high.

INTRODUCTION
Customer satisfaction is a growing concern within the hotel industry and a number of studies
have been carried out in the same context by different researchers. Customer satisfaction has
become ansignificant performance indicator for the hospitality industry/business, as it
indicates the strength of relationship between the customer and the service provider. With the
change in the lifestyles of the Customers, a significant shift has been observed in the demands
and expectations of the customers. From a number of years the hospitality industry has shown
a significant growth in its growth and diversification. As hospitality industry is a service
industry a direct interaction between the customer and service provider is very prominent.
therationale of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well that the product or
service fits him and sells itself.For successful operation of the firm a customer takes the
centre stage in the management policy. It is on this background that the effective approach to
customer retention is to ensure high level of customer satisfaction which is expected to yield
customer loyalty (Kotler and Armstrong, 2009). In hotel industry the personalised services
for the customers focus on Atleast three key elements: increased personalization, further

applications of technology and increased awareness of changing demographics. Customers in
the hospitality industry will no longer stand for being treated as one demographic category
and they will not tolerate a ‘one-size-fits all’ mentality. Thus the service organisations need
to customise their services as per the needs and requirement of the customers in order to have
a competitive advantage in the market.
The customers being aware of the market trends will look for individually designed products,
services and communication and only successful hotels will manage to communicate with
each customer as an individual with special needs and expectations. Hospitality industry
consists of all those business operators that provide for their customers any combination of
the three (3) core services of food, drink and accommodation, Foskett and Cesserani (2007).
As many modern economies are dominated by services, building and maintaining close
relationships with customers can evolve into rich and fulfilling partnerships. Customer
satisfaction revolves around giving the customers what they expect, it is essentially about
exceeding the customers’ expectations so that they become and remain loyal towards the
company brand.Business Essay (2013) defines customer satisfaction as a term used in
measuring how products and services supplied by a company meet or surpass customer’s
expectations. Customer satisfaction is seen as a key differentiator and increasingly has
become a key element of business strategy.
As per the Previous studies it is put forth that customers in hotels will utilize and assess
service encounters in different departments, including reception, food and beverage and
housekeeping, as the basis of evaluating the service and the results of those evaluations will
have a major impact on the overall satisfaction with the hotel experience. In a competitive
environment as the hospitality industry, where the quality of service is vital and with the
increased access to information technology, customers have become more discerning and
knowledgeable; the demand for customer satisfaction measurement and its influence on
loyalty and retention is obvious. The difference between customer satisfaction and the
attitude construct is that while guests hold preconsumption attitudes or expectations,
consumer satisfaction/dissatisfaction occurs only after the product/service has been
consumed. The guests that completed the questionnaires were present at that moment in the
hotel or visited the hotel at least once over the past three months. The present study is aimed
at studying customer satisfaction with respect to Hotels in Kashmir valley. The study has also
tried to come up with various suggestions for the service providers / managers in order to
enhance their products and services.
REVEIW OF LITERATURE
Customer Satisfaction
Customer satisfaction may be defined the extent to which a firm fulfils a customer’s needs
and desires in relation to his expectations, prior to receiving the products or service
(McCarthy and Perrault,2002). Thus customer expectation is the difference between the
expectations of the customers before receiving the services and perceptions of the customers
after receiving the services. Customer satisfaction mainly depends on the build-up of the
perceived value to which the customers have concerning a product or service (Kotler and
Armstrong, 2004; 2009). So customers’ satisfaction can reflect a person’s feeling of pleasure

or disappointment resulting from comparing a product’s perceived performance or outcome
in relation to the expectations. As per Liu and Yen (2010) Customer satisfaction is regarded
as customers can get more benefits than their cost. Customer satisfaction is attaining the
maximum out of the value invested for a product or a service.
Fourner and Glenmick (1991) concluded that the concept of satisfaction holds well only
when the expectation is positive. Expectations from the customer’s point of view are the
reference points on which a customer forms a judgement about a service or a product.
Customer satisfaction starts with the first contact an organization has with a customer and
continues throughout the entire lifetime of the relationship i.e. the guest cycle(Reicheld,
1996). Customer satisfaction plays the most important role in total quality management. In
comparison with other traditional performance measures, customer satisfaction is probably
less sensitive to seasonal fluctuations, changes in costs, or changes in accounting practices
(Kotler, 2006).So, for a hotel to carry on in business, it must ensure the satisfaction of needs
and wants of the customers continuously, which will eventually lead to a strong customer
base.
The hotel industry is a customer bound service and for hotel industries to market themselves
as brands it is very important to be customer centric and make sure that their customers get
the best of the values. The hospitality manager to ensure that their customers remain
continuously satisfied, they must ensure that customers feel welcomed, courteously and
efficiently served in a clean, safe and secured environment with the best quality of products
sold at a reasonable price(Jones and Newton, 1997).Customer satisfaction is a business
philosophy which tends to the creation of value for customers, anticipating and managing
their expectations, and demonstrating ability and responsibility to satisfy their needs.
Qualities of service and customer satisfaction are critical factors for success of any business
(Gronoos, 1990; Parasuraman etal., 1988). Chamayne (2013) enumerated the strategies that
can be used to improve customer satisfaction as listening ears, (i.e. proper customer
compliant handling procedure or technique) pricing (adequate and reasonable pricing policy),
provision of adequate security and proper satisfaction management, quality service delivery,
prompt service delivery courteous staff, employee training and retraining, etc.Hotels are
increasing their investments to improve service quality and the perceived value for guests so
as to achieve better customer satisfaction and loyalty, thus resulting in better relationships
with each customer (Jones et al., 2007).
As Valdani (2009) points out an enterprisesubsist only because they have customers to serve,
thus making it clear that an organisation exists only because of its customers. The key to
attain sustainable benefit lies in delivering high quality service that eventually leads to
satisfied customers (Shemwellet al, 1998). As per the various carried out the major
determinants of customer satisfaction vary from one individual to another. But many
individuals/customers have been discovered to prefer nearly the same thing. Among the top
three (3) determinants of customers satisfactions are: cleanliness, appearance and
price.Knutson (1988) publicized that room cleanliness and comfort, prompt service,
friendliness of employee’s convenience of location, safety and security, and are
important.Choi and Chu (2001) concluded that staff quality, room qualities and value are the

top three factorsfree breakfast, airport shuttle, car hire service, atmosphere, security and
friendly staff. Atkinson (1988) found out that cleanliness, security, value for money and
courtesy of staff.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
For the conducting the study primary data was collected through an administered
questionnaire to collect the responses of the customers on the basis of various service
attributes provided to them. The study uses simple random technique for the survey. For the
study 200 questionnaires were distributed among the customers availing the hotel services
and 150 responses were found useable for the study.
OBJECTIVES
1. To study the level of customer satisfaction towards hotel industry in Kashmir.
2. To suggests the service providers with various strategies so as to enhance customer
services.

As per results revealed in table 1, 60 % of the respondents are males and 40% are females.
15% of the respondents fall in the age category of( below 20), 35% in (20- 25) and 50% of
the respondents fall in the age category of (above 25). 70% of the respondents are married
while as 30 % are unmarried. 25 % of the respondents fall in the income group of(
below20000), 30 % fall in (20000-25000) and 45 % of the respondents fall in the income
group (above 25000). 15% of the respondents has the length of stay for (below 5 days) , 40
% for (5 – 10 days) and 45% above 10 days.

RESULT AND INTERPRETATION
As per the results available in first segment 46% of the customers are satisfied with the
cleanliness and comfort provided by the hotel. 20 % of the respondents are satisfied with the
safety and security level provided by the hotels. 49% of the customers are satisfied with the
staff performance of the hotels. 30% of the total customers are satisfied with the prompt
services that are provided by the hotels. 41 % of the customers are satisfied with the staff
knowledge of the hotel .46 % of the customers are satisfied with the price charged by the
hotels. 54% of the hotels are satisfied with the ambience and interior decoration of the hotels.
50% of the customers are satisfied with the parking facility provided by the hotel. 34% of the
customers are satisfied with the products and services provided with the hotel and 25 % of the
customers are satisfied with the location of the hotel.
CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION
The result through the analysis showed that the customers are very much sensitive towards
the various service segments and thus it is very much needed from the service provider’s end
that they should draft and present and their services in such a manner that maximum
customer satisfaction is attainted and a strong customer base is attained. The service
providers thus need to augment their services in such a way that they meet the expectations of
the customers at desired levels. The service providers need to enhance their services from
time to time to meet the changing global scenario. The mangers should make a provision for
customized services which should be customer centric and should focus on complaint

handling and addressing grievances of the customers. The accommodation service providers
must not forget this fact and must provide the services when asked for, so as to increase the
image in the eyes of customers and gain loyalty.Hospitality industry must pay attention to
potential failure points and service recovery procedures which becomes integral to employees
training. In other words, it amounts to empowering employees to exercise responsibility,
judgment and creativity in responding to guests‟ problems. Thus the service providers should
make business more customer centric so as to maximum customer satisfaction is attained
eventually.
The present study was taken so as to measure customer satisfaction in the hotels of the
Kashmir valley and the study has been clearly analyzed with appropriate methodology based
on the objectives. The study is an attempt to make the hotel industry more perfection towards
the customer satisfaction much more effective way. On the basis of data analysis it is proved
that the satisfaction level of the customers towards the hotel industry is good but certain
attempts should be made by the managers to make the services more efficient and sustainable
in the longer run.

The issues of crime and its associated effects on hotel operations have gotten much attention; however, this is scarcely studied in African contexts. Besides, there is a dearth of information on how hotel characteristics and the adoption of security measures can mediate the relationship between crime occurrence and its effects on hotel operations. This study systematically examined whether hotel characteristics and the adoption of security measures can moderate the interaction of perceived crime occurrence and hotel operation, evidence from Ibadan municipality, Nigeria. Questionnaire administration was used to elicit information from the hotel staff in 2021. Frequency table, percentages, mean, correlation, and Ordinary Least Squares Regression (OLS) were used in the analysis and interpretation of data. Results through the use of correlation show that crime occurrence (personal and property crime) has a significant and positive effect on hotel operations. Examination of personal and property crimes separately shows that both have positive and significant effects on hotel operations, with property crime having a more significant effect. Findings revealed that the number of available rooms and adoption of security measures moderate the effect of crime on hotel operation, while the nature of services rendered does not predict the effect of crime on hotel operation. Lastly, this study addresses theoretical implications that support the framework of the routine activity theory as well as practical implications that suggest ways and methods of preventing crime occurrence.

The global COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted the Nepalese hotel industry due to government-imposed lockdowns and travel restrictions. This led to decreased earnings, higher unemployment, and a noticeable shift in guest behavior. In this context, the study analyzes the impact of COVID-19 on guest behavior towards the hotel industry in the Kathmandu Valley. This study utilizes an explanatory research design and gathers data from 260 participants through structured questionnaires, administered with the assistance of the KOBO Toolbox within the Kathmandu Valley. Inferential analysis was conducted using an ordered logistic model. The findings indicate that the pandemic has indeed had an impact on guest behavior within the hotel industry. Additionally, factors such as gender, education level, profession, reference group, security, attitude, and beliefs play a significant role in shaping guest behavior toward the hotel industry. We also find that most individuals visit hotels for personal reasons, and guests generally have a moderate level of awareness regarding COVID-19. In conclusion, hotels should enhance their services and maintain a hygienic environment to address these issues. In this regard, this study will benefit researchers, the hotel industry, the travel and tourism sector, policymakers, marketing agencies, and more.

The essence of banking service will always be service quality. To gain customer satisfaction, enhance market rivalry, and achieve sustainable performance. The primary goal of this article is to identify the primary factor contributing to high customer dissatisfaction and poor service quality in bank services. This article synergies fuzzy SERVQUAL, fuzzy Kano model, and fuzzy analytic network processing into QFD. Structured survey questions based on SERVQUAL and Kano models were developed and disseminated to collect data. According to the findings, the bank should offer the promised service within the time range, respond to client concerns immediately, and supply appropriate service within the time frame. Furthermore, an employee should give timely care to the client; the employee should never be too busy to respond to customer demands and inform the consumer when service is delivered. In conclusion, focusing on customer requirements can enhance the bank's service level, which increases customer satisfaction.

This is a qualitative study with the objective to search for the patterns and directions in an integrated performance measurement of local hotels through secondary data from existing research collections and primary data from personal in-depth interviews with 12 local hotel administrators in the global tourism destination of Samui Island, Thailand. In this study, we found that the performance measurement of local hotel businesses on Samui Island, Thailand, a global tourism destination, was composed of various components. Each component was integrated; the performance measurements of each component are not undertaken separately. The financial aspect is not the sole focal component; rather, it is connected to other aspects, i.e., the operation and stakeholder relationship. The financial aspect of the local hotels, on the other hand, includes measurements of income and return on investment. In addition, the operation of the businesses emphasises the satisfaction with the customer service, while the stakeholder relationship stresses customer loyalty. Importantly, a sense of ownership on the part of the personnel, trust in their colleagues, and a sense of being a part of the community in which the businesses operate are all taken into consideration.

This study investigates the security challenges of ten selected hotels in the metropolis of Owerri, Nigeria, and the effect on guest loyalty. A survey was conducted on 154 respondents using a structured instrument to elicit responses regarding the various physical, personnel, and system security aspects of the hotel industry. Relationships between the consequent variables were determined using the Pearson correlation coefficient. The result indicated a weak positive correlation (r2 = 0.270) between security conditions and guest patronage (p ≤ 0.01) while a weak positive correlation (r2 = 0.086) was also identified between perceived guest security and the availability of informal businesses (p ≤ 0.281) in the hotel. A lack of security collaboration among hotels located in the area, inadequate emergency exits, and poor internal security were also indicated. The study recommends a balance between the provision of adequate security and guest privacy, bearing in mind the aggravation guests may feel in the event of an invasion of privacy.

In the study various differences and similarities in the satisfaction level of the respondent customers have been discussed to identify the needs and perceptions of hotel customers based on the level of their satisfaction with reference to Sree Annapoorna Sree Gowrishankar group of hotels in Coimbatore. Overall, the data analysis showed that the results were reliable and indicated a good measure of sampling adequacy. Effective marketing strategies need to be planned by hoteliers to attract and retain more and more customers, by satisfying them during their first visit.

In the current technological development, internet and smartphone users in conducting transactions online continue to experience growth. This development is mainly in the entertainment and leisure industry to provide opportunities for businesses to create an application in the field of online travel, one of which is Traveloka. This study aims to analyze the impact of information quality, application design, and satisfaction on repurchase intention with social media engagement as a mediating variable. Data were collected deploying the non-probability sampling method through online questionnaires, 400 responses were received and 392 included for data analysis. Research participants were the general public who had used the Traveloka application previously. Structural equation modelling (SEM) has been used to examine the association of the constructs, including information quality, application design, satisfaction, social media engagement and repurchase intention. The results indicate that the quality of information, application design, payment methods, and security and privacy had a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction. Social media engagement does not statistically significant mediates the impact of information quality and application design on repurchase intention in the Traveloka application. In the present competitive era, consumer satisfaction is a fundamental strength for any business to subsist. Service quality and customer satisfaction turn out to be the only way to differentiate services from those of the competitors. Customer satisfaction is largely hooked upon quality of services. Hotels which are able to comprehend and satisfy customer's needs make greater profits than those which fail to understand and satisfy them. Customers in the hospitality industry will no longer stand for being treated as one demographic class and they will not tolerate a generalized mind-set. Thus the service providing companies need to customize their services as per the needs and requirement of the consumers in order to have a competitive advantage in the market. In view of the rising significance of customer satisfaction for tourism promotion; present study attempts to explore the literature available on the consumer satisfaction in hotel industry and also determine the satisfaction level of customers towards hotel industry in Kashmir Valley on the basis of existing literature and a fresh qualitative study. The study offers various suggestions so as to make services more efficient and effective.

The objective of this study was to empirically test a model of relationships among service quality, satisfaction and selected behavioural outcomes. Particular attention was paid to delineating the cognitive aspects of the service provider-consumer relationship from the affective, emotive factors. Using doctor-patient relationships in Turkey as the study setting, results of a LISREL analysis suggest that the affective aspects of satisfaction have more impact than cognitive factors on patients’ propensity to continue the relationship. The most critical managerial implication of the study findings is that doctors need to place more emphasis on the functional (how it is done) aspects of care giving than the technical (what is done) ones.

In the highly-competitive leisure service industry, improving service quality to gain competitive advantages is the only key to sustainable management of leisure agriculture. However, developing leisure farming may cause positive and negative impact on local economy, social culture, and environment. Therefore, how to identify the factors affecting tourist choice of leisure farming types is an important issue which is worth studying. Leisure farming tourists living in Taiwan were selected as research subjects. The sampling survey is executed by questionnaires. The collected data are also analyzed by using statistical methods. The research results show: (1) there are positive relationships among service quality, positive tourism impact, and total tourist satisfaction; (2) some demographic variables may lead to significant difference in perception of service quality, tourism impact, and total tourist satisfaction; (3) tangibles and assurance of service quality, positive economy and positive social culture of tourism impact significantly influence tourist choice of leisure farming types; (4) there are significantly positive and direct effects between service quality and positive tourism impact, and positive tourism impact and total tourist satisfaction, but significantly negative and direct effects between service quality and negative tourism impact, and negative tourism impact and total tourist satisfaction through Amos analysis.

On average, US corporations now lose half of their customers in five years, half their employees in four, and half their investors in less than one. Customer retention is the central gauge that measures how well the company is creating value for its customers. Creating value for customers builds loyalty, and loyalty in turn builds growth, profit and more value. Profit is not primary. Profit is a consequence of value creation. The only way to achieve sustainable improvements in performance is by building sustainable improvements in value creation and loyalty. In a typical company, customers are defecting at the rate of 10-30% per year; employee turnover rates of 15-25% are common; and average annual investor churn now exceeds 50% per year. WE NEED TO SEE PEOPLE AS ASSETS, rather than expenses, and we should expect those assets to pay returns over a period of many years. Asset defection is unacceptable. Human capital, unlike most other assets, does not depreciate over time. It actually improves with age. The Fundamental Mission of Business is Not Profit, but Value Creation. There are two kinds of profit. Virtuous profit-the result of creating value, sharing it, and building the assets of the business. Destructive Profit -comes from exploiting assets, from selling off a business's true balance sheet. We need to begin basing bonuses on the enhancement of customer value and loyalty. Building a highly loyal customer base cannot be done as an add-on. It must be an integral part of a company's basic business strategy. We have to get rid of the idea that our primary mission is to maximize profits and shareholder value. To quote Henry Ford, "Business must be run at a profit... else it will die. But when anyone tries to run a business solely for profit, then also the business must die, for it no longer has a reason for existence." Promotions and year end bonuses are tied to the annual profit plan, so managers zero in on managing those numbers, one year at a time. For several generations of managers, the link between a company's long term fortunes and the loyalty of its customers, employees and investors has become invisible. The resulting mismanagement of human capital has thwarted progress in many large companies. The average Fortune 500 Company expires in 40 years. Most are outlived by their employees. This short corporate lifespan suggests some flaw in our current profit before value thinking.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to offer an exploratory case study of how the UK's top ten food retailers are employing corporate social responsibility (CSR) as a means of marketing to customers while they are within stores. Design/methodology/approach The paper begins with a short review of the characteristics and origins of CSR and it is followed by a literature review of current thinking on the relationships between marketing and CSR and a brief outline of the structure of food retailing in the UK. Data obtained from an internet search and a simple walk through visual inspection and information collection survey conducted within the largest store operated by each of the top ten retailers within the towns of Cheltenham and Gloucester, UK provides the empirical material for the case study. Findings The survey revealed that the principal CSR themes being employed within stores were value for money, support for local food producers, Fairtrade, healthy living and healthy eating, commitment to organic products, charitable donations and initiatives to support the local community. Practical implications That there was considerable variation in the extent to which the top ten retailers were using CSR themes in marketing communications within stores. Originality/value Outlines the relationships between marketing and CSR and gives a brief summary of the structure of food retailing in the UK and will be of interest to those involved in those fields.

This study examined the relative importance of hotel factors in relation to travelers’ overall satisfaction levels with their hotel stays in Hong Kong and the likelihood of returning to the same hotels in their subsequent trips. Using a factor analysis technique, the study identified seven hotel factors that were likely to influence customers’ choice intentions: ‘Staff Service Quality’, ‘Room Qualities’, ‘General Amenities’, ‘Business Services’, ‘Value’, ‘Security’ and ‘IDD Facilities’. Multiple regression analysis technique was then applied to examine the relative importance of each of these hotel factors in determining travelers’ overall satisfaction levels and their likelihood of returning to the same hotels. In order of importance, ‘Staff Service Quality’, ‘Room Qualities’ and ‘Value’ were the three most influential factors in determining travelers’ overall satisfaction levels and their likelihood of returning to the same hotels.
