Abstract

The objective of the study was of determine the level of the muscle soreness of a female team under 16 and under 14 of the volleyball. The sample was composed of same team that competed in the 2nd Phase of the Grand Prix. Both teams competed in four games and after these matches were presented the muscle soreness scale, this scale was presented in the period of 12 hours after the game. The Friedman Anova did not detect statistical difference (p>0,05) of the muscle soreness of the team under 16 and under 14. The Mann Whitney U test, compared the value of the muscle soreness of the under 16 versus the under 14 in the same time period, and did not find statistical difference (p>0,05). The new statistic did not find statistical difference in the same analysis practiced by significance p. Only a R of the under 16 had statistical difference, internal load of the game 3 versus muscle soreness after the game 3 (R = 0,88, p = 0,0002). In conclusion, the muscle soreness of two female volleyball teams of young players was similar.

Background: The importance of vertical jumps has been extensively recognised in sports. Furthermore, the main indicator of success in vertical jumps is the attained height, however, there is lack of knowledge on how the eccentric and concentric force–time curve variables affect the jump height. Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the relationships between eccentric and concentric variables of the force–time curve and jump height in youth volleyball players. Methods: Twelve elite volleyball players (male, Iranian national youth volleyball players, 17±0.7 years) have participated in this study. The correlations between the force–time variables, including the peak force, relative peak force, peak power, average power, relative peak power, peak velocity, and modified reactive strength index, of the eccentric and concentric phases and jump height have been assessed based on Pearson’s correlation coefficient. Results: Results showed that the average power (r=0.7, p=0.034), relative peak power (r=0.75, p=0.029) and peak velocity (r=0.98, p=0.004) of the concentricphase and modified reactive strength index (r=0.83, p=0.014) significantly correlated with the jump height. Conclusion: relative peak power and average power of the concentric phase are shown to affect jump height in young volleyball players, whereby the vertical jump is their integral part. Based on the study’s outcomes, conditioning coaches are advised to emphasise the development of relative and maximal powers in specific and individualised training program.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the possible arm swing effect on the biomechanical parameters of vertical counter movement jump due to differences of the compliance of the takeoff surface. Fifteen elite male beach-volleyball players (26.2 ± 5.9 years; 1.87 ± 0.05 m; 83.4 ± 6.0 kg; mean ± standard deviation, respectively) performed counter movement jumps on sand and on a rigid surface with and without an arm swing. Results showed significant (p < .05) surface effects on the jump height, the ankle joint angle at the lowest height of the body center of mass and the ankle angular velocity. Also, significant arm swing effects were found on jump height, maximum power output, temporal parameters, range of motion and angular velocity of the hip. These findings could be attributed to the instability of the sand, which resulted in reduced peak power output due to the differences of body configuration at the lowest body position and lower limb joints' range of motion. The combined effect of the backward arm swing and the recoil of the sand that resulted in decreased resistance at ankle plantar flexion should be controlled at the preparation of selected jumping tasks in beach-volleyball.

The objective of the study was to detect in a women`s volleyball team under 14 the type of interval – active or passive, that decreases more the subjective perception (SP) of the muscle soreness of the volleyball player. The female team under 14 of the research disputed the championship 1 and 2. The scale of Foster et al. (2001) was used to determine the internal load physical effort of the volleyball game. The scale monitored the muscle soreness of the players was the face scale of the physical effort of the volleyball. In the championship 1 the team practiced the passive interval and in the championship 2, the team performed the active interval. The Shapiro Wilk test detected no normal data of the time in minutes of each sets, of the internal load physical effort of the volleyball game and of the SP of the muscle soreness. The Kruskal Wallis Anova did not detect significant differences time in minutes of each sets and of the SP of the muscle soreness of the passive internal versus active internal. The Friedman Anova did not detect significant differences in the internal load. In conclusion, the active interval can be beneficial to reduce the SP muscle soreness.
