We analyse in this paper the main conceptual propositions on Models of the Mind, initiating the task studying the works by Spinoza, Leibniz, Descartes and Hobbes. Later on, we analyse modern approaches to the subject, with a special attention to biopsychosocial model proposed by Engel. Some inherent difficulties of this model are discussed and also some alternatives which imply a 'spinozist'
