High Capacity Reversible Data Hiding Algorithm Using Interpolation and Sorting

Abstract

For the hiding capacity and image quality of reversible data hiding algorithm based on image interpolation, a high capacity image reversible data hiding algorithm using interpolation and sorting is proposed. Firstly, in order to enhance the quality of the interpolated image, an improved image interpolation method was proposed. Then, the interpolated image is overlapped blocks. The secret data was hidden by using three strategies. First select the block with the smaller variance, then the maximum amount of secret data that can be hidden by each non-reference pixel was adaptively calculated, and last adaptive secret data hiding method, which solved the overflow problem of hidden image and enhanced the hidden capacity and the quality of the hidden image. The proposed algorithm was evaluated on four benchmark image databases consisted of Kodak lossless true color image suite, uncompressed color image database, McMaster dataset and USC-SIPI image database. Compared with four similar algorithms, the results demonstrate that the hidden capacity of the proposed algorithm is improved respectively by 113.16%, 27.69%, 188.53% and 4.08%, and it has better image quality under the same hidden capacity condition. © 2018, Beijing China Science Journal Publishing Co.
