Sezonowość cen środków ochrony roślin w wybranych krajach Unii Europejskiej
Abstract
Plant protection products stand out from other means of production for agriculture with little price dynamics. The article presents the occurrence and the size of seasonal fluctuations in plant protection product prices in selected EU countries. Due to the availability of data, the prices of plant protection products in Poland, France, Ireland and Greece were analyzed. Seasonal variation analysis was performed using the seasonal decomposition method. The study does not point to a clear seasonality in the prices of plant protection products on the markets analyzed. The seasonality of plant protection products prices was observed only on the Polish and French markets, while the variations in seasonal fluctuations were small. Seasonal price increases were observed for the Polish market from March to June, during the period of increased demand for plant protection products. In the second half of the year, prices generally declined. Seasonal price changes on the French market were similar.

Poland currently belongs to countries with a relatively high consumption of agrochemicals, in particular mineral fertilizers and chemical herbicides. From the perspective of environmental protection, as well as improving the efficiency of treatments using agrochemicals, it is essential for the farmer to have knowledge in order to make the right decisions. To meet these needs, Decision Support Systems, IT tools providing information and knowledge, supporting organizational and business decision-making activities are created. This paper presents the results of analyses of the use of these systems in Poland. The work also presents innovative decision support systems in the form of applications as well as statistical data on the current level of agrochemical consumption in Polish agriculture. According to the analyses, Polish farmers have access to many systems, including innovative ones. Statistical data shows that users of farms in Poland only to a small extent use the decision-making support of in the field of plant protection. in this respect, it is necessary to increase the activity of farmers in the search for knowledge from many different sources and to significantly increase its level and improve their skills.
In the 2000-2010 year the prices surge of agricultural production took place.
It refers especially to the mineral fertilizers. In this paper the analyses of the mineral fertilizers
prices in the domestic market are shown, taking seasonal changes under consideration.
The synthetic representation of the researched phenomenon seasonality has been
reached by seasonality rates calculating (additive). The research results show that the
prices of all put to analysis fertilizers are characterized by seasonality, but the oscillation
rate was different. The prices seasonality rates of ammonium nitrate were higher than other
fertilizers.
