Resumen. Se presentan dos hallazgos recientes de Tongorma de Botsuana y Zambia. Se da información
adicional acerca de la distribución de Tongorma latreillii y Tongorma tetrapterum.

The genus Tongorma Kirkaldy, 1900 within the tribe Phyllomorphini of the Coreidae
includes seven species (CoreoideaSF Team 2018) which are distributed in Africa (including
Madagascar), respectively Asia.
So far, Tongorma latreillii (Guérin-Méneville, 1839) has been reported from Botswana,
Namibia, Senegal, South Africa, Sudan, Swaziland, Yemen and Zambia (Guérin-Méneville
1839; Stål 1858; Blöte 1935; Dolling 2006; Kment and Rédei 2013; Voigt 2014; van der Heyden
2015; Krüger and Deckert 2016). Most of these reports refer to just a few records from the
19th century and the early 20th century. Therefore, a recent record from Botswana should be
published here to conrm the presence of T. latreillii in this country.
Tony Benn photographed a specimen of T. latreillii found near Serowe, Central District,
located in the central-eastern part of Botswana on 12-XII-2012 (Fig. 1). The photograph was
rst published in the online database iNaturalist (Benn 2018). Tony Benn wrote: “My Serowe
home near where the bug was collected is right on the edge of the residential area of very
rocky hillside with a gentle gradient which is heavily overgrazed.” (personal comment).
Furthermore, on 26-VI-2018 Stephen Wain observed and photographed a specimen
belonging to the genus Tongorma in the South Luangwa National Park, Muchinga Province,
situated in the north-eastern part of Zambia (Fig. 2). The photograph was rst published in
the online database Project Noah (Wain 2018). This specimen might belong to T. latreillii or to
the related species Tongorma tetrapterum (Gerstaecker, 1873), so far reported from Kenya and
Tanzania (Voigt 2014). Unfortunately, it is not possible to determine it unequivocally.

Article
The knowledge of insect biodiversity of Botswana is far from perfect. By 2015, there were only inventories publicly available for butterflies, dragonflies and grasshoppers. Here we report 331 species and subspecies of true bugs (Heteroptera), of which 242 records were extracted from scattered published literature and online sources, and 89 (27%) are new records for Botswana. These data significantly increase the number of insect species known from Botswana by roughly 30%.
