Abstract

Sports played a major role in Mexican public education programs between 1920 and 1940. This chapter discusses photographic images of Mexican campesinos and the implementation of sports as social profilaxis. The post.revolutionary regimes urged Mexican peasants to "drop their arms and take up balls", that is basketballs and footballs, and sports were deployed for their biopolitical potential.
