Abstract

The two expressions: «The Wholesome Faith» [r (,ytcdvouoa 311aT11] and cThe Kerygma of Piety that the great Cappadocian hierarch used throughout his work, talk about the strategy that he employed in his quest to defend and promote the living and tangible truth of the Gospel. Saint Basil the Great explained the dogma starting from the liturgical and ascetical piety, and then he went on to create a new language that would clearly express the meaning of the articles of faith. Confessing and defending the truth of the Gospel was for him first and foremost a question of ethos, of life and comprehension, as well as a matter of sentience and experience of the early apostolic tradition. The true faith, or the wholesome faith as Saint Basil would often call it, was understood by him as a perfect equality between the revealed truth and the life of man, or rather an application and experience of this same truth in the man's daily life. © 2017 Publicacions de l' Abadia de Montserrat.
