Processing Phono Cardiograph Using fastICA

Many practical applications based on the data acquisition demands special processing needs. The signals obtained using transducers are often raw, as the signal of interest gets contaminated by noise. One such example is Phonocardiography. Phonocardiography is a tracing technique of heart sounds and the recording of cardiac acoustics vibration by means of a microphone-transducer. As in this technique, the acoustic signal need to be recorded on the maternal abdominal surface, is heavily loaded by noise, determination of the fetal heart rate (FHR) raises serious signal processing issues. This present paper aims at discussion of ICA and proposing a Independent Component Analysis, a computationally efficient blind statistical signal processing technique for the extraction of FHS. The study of this BSS technique shows that the processing of Phonocardiograph can help in extracting FHS and thus making analysis of fetal heart sound signals easy.
