The learning by doing and collaborative learning are the two major objectives of the virtual labs. The practical experience shows that the rate of knowledge retention increases dramatically through learning-by-doing. Thus, it is the primary goal of the most of the virtual labs and it is successfully achieved. But virtual labs couldn’t fulfill the second objective i.e. collaborative learning.
Secondly, the statistics says that in 2004, every sixth person will be having mobile connectivity and More than 75 percent of all Internet viewing will be carried out on wireless platforms. Rarely has a technology penetrated so quickly and so widely as the mobile telephone. The yesterday’s buzzword was d-learning today it is e-learning and tomorrow it will be m-learning. Secret of success of m-learning lies in time management.
To achieve both the goals i.e. virtual labs with collaborative environment, mobile technology for proper time utilization, the generalized technique for “Mobile Virtual Collaborative Laboratory (MVCL) is established. This paper describes this generalized technique and the MVCPL implementation in detail.
