Configurable CD Piracy Protection Technique for E-Learning CD Containing Executables Clips

Without the help of economical and reliable CD piracy protection mechanism the Research & Development activities cannot be accelerated in the field of Computer Based Training (CBT) through CDs. Nobody would like to invest time, energy and money in digital multimedia for education field without the reliable CD protection. This paper describes the MS Windows based new technique for reliable and most economical CD protection mechanism for CD containing set of executable files. It’s combination of various physical and software protection techniques. This technique facilitates the developer to configure the software and allow the variations. The protected CDs can not be cracked even after disclosing the mechanism. This technique has been tested for 3 years on various educational CDs and couldn’t be cracked by any of existing CD duplicator softwares.

Authoring tool for video-based content on WebELS learning system to support higher education

This paper presents an authoring tool for video-based learning content in the WebELS system to support higher education. The primary function of the authoring tool is to synchronize a video stream with the presentation slide by means of video clip timing. In each slide, cursor recording function is integrated. This function combines video clip stream with mouse cursor actions. This system is divided into two modes: (1) editor mode is designed for instructors to manage the learning content e.g., video synchronization, cursor synchronization and slide information, and (2) learner mode is used to display learning content. Several useful functions are implemented, e.g., video and slide view toggle, zoom, etc. The system can help instructors create an attractive content for e-Learning system.
