Article
In interstitial laser coagulation (ILC) the applicator can be inserted into the desired tissue as deep and as often as necessary to coagulate any amount of tissue. ILC can achieve different quantitative and qualitative effects. These depend not only on the type of laser source, laser applicator, and irradiation parameters, but also particularly on the "treatment scheme" (e.g. number of applicator placements) the surgeon is following. ILC is surgeon dependent. This chapter discusses the indications, technique, and outcome for ILC.
