networking sites blaring about world happenings, youth can

understand that there is more to the world than just what is
happening in the ‘hood.
Help Develop Social Skills:
Many teens are socially awkward. Social Media also gives
them the probability to develop their social circle and
develop new friendships.[7] Other benefits include social
confidence, heightened literacy in the media, and more
social support. Social media diversifies teen’s social skills,
which in turn helps them navigate successfully through
modern society.
Inspire Them:
When our teen watches an action flick, don’t just despair
about the violence. With a minute control on teens, they can
use the movie as encouragement, motivation and
inspiration! Maybe our teen will decide to take up martial
arts training, all thanks to a Bruce Lee movie! Mostly
youngsters give the impression of being celebrities, and
when a celebrity tells them to stay off drugs, they just might
listen.
Help Develop Reading And Writing Skills:
When a celebrity talks of her favorite book, a teenager
might be tempted to grab a book too.
B. Positive Effect of Social Media on Kid and Teens
Distorted Body Image:
The world is full of perfect people today. With the use of
Photoshop the images are everywhere and lead to distorted
body image among a number of teenagers. Anorexia and
bulimia are a fall out of this body image crisis.
Risky Sexual Behavior:
Young people are simply finding their sexuality. It is
exceptionally typical for them to be occupied with
everything sexual. However, the measure of sex in media
today can make an adolescent befuddled. Sex without duty
that is by all accounts the message being radiated at
adolescents. This can prompt untrustworthy sexual conduct
and undesirable pregnancies.
Score Low In School:
Teens who watch too much television have lower scores in
exams. During a study it is mentioned that persons with high
degree scores watch less television in their childhood and
teenage. Another study reveals that different media affects
school work differently.[6] The media today is powerful and
omnipresent. You just can’t escape its tentacles. And you
don’t need to! Retain this information in mind, media is
presently a tool and like any other tool, how you use it
depends on you.
IX. HANDLING INFLUENCE OF SOCIAL
MEDIA ON YOUTH AND TEENS:
Here are some ways to handle the influence of social media
on teenagers:
Check out the music, movies, TV shows, games and
celebrities your child likes. Once we know what is
interesting to them, we can spot the pictures and
messages that are influencing them.
It is quite easy for our teens to watch YouTube videos
on mobiles so that we may not know what he is
watching. Parents must try monitoring the teenager on
what he is watching on TV or the internet and try to
discuss some limits and rules.
One of the best ways to help the teens navigate the
influences on media is to talk about messages.[4] For
instance, if the teen love girls, we can talk to them
about female friendships, life choices, self-esteem and
sexuality.
Monitoring teen’s choices does not mean we ban them
from watching media. It is just making them aware of
the negative influences.
We should also choose to ban some apps, shows and
games. Explain why we are doing so.
We can also encourage our teen to interpret media by
putting forward some questions they can ask. Pick out a
TV ad or a magazine and ask the teen: who’s behind it,
what is their motivation, how does it make them feel,
what they needs from it, and so on.
We can do the same with our teen’s role model.
Encourage our teen to ask him like why does they like
that celebrity, does they follow him in real life, what
values of the celebrity interest our teens and so on.

... Social media has dramatically changed our information ecosystem, increasing the volume and speed of information flow exponentially. Despite several positive aspects of social media (e.g., connecting individuals across large physical distances, stimulating democracies by facilitating public discourse or serving (local) communities as common ground for communication; see, e.g., [2,5,66]), there are also negative side effects. Those range from reduced psychological well-being (e.g., due to cyberbullying or social media addiction; see, e.g., [5,14,35,52]) to more broad, societal effects (e.g., disproportionally powerful social media companies, overaccelerated public discourse or formation of legal vacuums; see, e.g., [26,38,71]). ...
... Technically speaking, a tweet can also be fact-checked via a quoting tweet ('quote': comment to a tweet while repeating the tweet). For ease of readability, we will refer to replies only.2 Another scenario is that tweets might be fact-checked but without providing links to fact-checking sites. ...

Social media can be a major accelerator of the spread of misinformation, thereby potentially compromising both individual well-being and social cohesion. Despite significant recent advances, the study of online misinformation is a relatively young field facing several (methodological) challenges. In this regard, the detection of online misinformation has proven difficult, as online large-scale data streams require (semi-)automated, highly specific and therefore sophisticated methods to separate posts containing misinformation from irrelevant posts. In the present paper, we introduce the adaptive community-response (ACR) method, an unsupervised technique for the large-scale collection of misinformation on Twitter (now known as 'X'). The ACR method is based on previous findings showing that Twitter users occasionally reply to misinformation with fact-checking by referring to specific fact-checking sites (crowdsourced fact-checking). In a first step, we captured such misinforming but fact-checked tweets. These tweets were used in a second step to extract specific linguistic features (keywords), enabling us to collect also those misinforming tweets that were not fact-checked at all as a third step. We initially present a mathematical framework of our method, followed by an explicat algorithmic implementation. We then evaluate ACR on the basis of a comprehensive dataset consisting of > 25 million tweets, belonging to > 300 misinforming stories. Our evaluation shows that ACR is a valid and useful tool for large-scale collection of misinformation online: Text similarity measures clearly indicate correspondence between claims of false stories and collected tweets. Taken together, ACR's efficacy is based upon three pillars: (i) the adoption of prior, pioneering research in the field, (ii) a well-formalized mathematical framework and (iii) a robust empirical proof. This triad leads us to the conclusion that ACR has the potential to make a valuable contribution to further resolve methodological challenges of the field.

Background: Social media (SM) has gained importance in the health care sector as a means of communication and a source of information for physicians and patients. However, the scope of professional SM use by orthopedic and trauma surgeons remains largely unknown. Objective: This study presents an overview of professional SM use among orthopedic and trauma surgeons in Germany in terms of the platforms used, frequency of use, and SM content management. Methods: We developed a web-based questionnaire with 33 variables and 2 separate sections based on a review of current literature. This study analyzed the first section of the questionnaire and included questions on demographics, type of SM used, frequency of use, and SM content management. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS (version 26.0). Subgroup analysis was performed for sex, age groups (<60 years vs ≥60 years), and type of workplace (practice vs hospital). Differences between groups were assessed with a chi-square test for categorical data. Results: A total of 208 participants answered the questionnaire (166/208, 79.8% male), of whom 70.2% (146/208) were younger than 60 years and 77.4% (161/208) worked in a practice. All participants stated that they use SM for private and professional purposes. On average, participants used 1.6 SM platforms for professional purposes. More than half had separate SM accounts for private and professional use. The most frequently used SM platforms were messenger apps (119/200, 59.5%), employment-oriented SM (60/200, 30%), and YouTube (54/200, 27%). All other SM, including Facebook and Instagram, were only used by a minority of the participants. Women and younger participants were more likely to use Instagram (P<.001 and P=.03, respectively). The participants working in a hospital were more likely to use employment-oriented SM (P=.02) and messenger apps (P=.009) than participants working in a practice. In a professional context, 20.2% (39/193) of the participants produced their own content on SM, 24.9% (48/193) used SM daily, 39.9% (77/193) used SM during work, and 13.8% (26/188) stated that they checked the number of followers they had. Younger participants were more likely to have participated in professional SM training and to have separate private and professional accounts (P=.04 and P=.02, respectively). Younger participants tended toward increased production of their own content (P=.06). Conclusions: SM is commonly used for professional purposes by orthopedic and trauma surgeons in Germany. However, it seems that professional SM use is not exploited to its full potential, and a structured implementation into daily professional work routines is still lacking. SM can have a profound impact on medical practices and communication, so orthopedic and trauma surgeons in Germany should consider increasing their SM presence by actively contributing to SM.

Research on communications has consistently demonstrated that mass media is predicted to have a strong influence on students' behavior and their overall disposition to academic performance. However, how school values influence media preference and use is less well investigated. This study investigated whether school values influence media preference and the purpose of using media in a private university in North Central, Nigeria in Nigeria. The study adopted a triangulating type of mixed method research design and stratified sampling technique in recruiting 390 respondents. Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) version 22 was used in analysing the returned questionnaires, while five (5) in-depth interviews were content analyzed. The study used both the descriptive and inferential methods of data analysis. The findings of the study revealed a decline in the reading of print media. The study also found that there was a positive relationship between school values and media preference. Further, findings revealed a non-existing relationship between the purpose for using mass media and school values. The study concluded that though, mass media, students , and the broad social system (university) are all interconnected, general institutional core values may not necessarily be upheld as individual values as reflected in the different purposes for using media by students'. The study recommends that lecturers should recommend print media sections for academic work.

As a privately held firm, the Coca-Cola firm seeks to maximize profits by lowering labour expenses. Many Coca-Cola employees were fired as a result of the decreasing labour cost, and the working conditions for those who remained at the firm deteriorated. All of the aforementioned claims demonstrated that the rights of the employees had been disregarded. To defend the interests of the workers, the trade union Sinaltrainal went on strike. Coca-Cola was so incensed by this behaviour that it even endangered the workers' lives. While the firm hired people to set fire to Sinaltrainal's headquarters, they murdered union members and forbade additional employees from joining Sinaltrainal. The union attempted to file a lawsuit, but it failed due to the absence of a law with legal effect and the specificity of Coca-Cola's structure. This article gives a case study of human rights abuses by Coca-Cola and seeks to address the problem. The article identifies two possible solutions, strengthening regulatory organization responsibility and international law as well as using social media to spread out and put pressure on this MNE. In addition, this article evaluates each method's effectiveness and gives corresponding advantages and disadvantages.

Social Networks was only an electronic connection between users but unfortunately it has become an addiction for students, teenagers and even adults. This paper presents impact of social networks on education, students and impact on life of teenagers, further it describes how social networking websites are auditory and dangerous for youth and teenagers.
Real-time unusual event detection in video stream has been a difficult challenge due to the lack of sufficient training information, volatility of the definitions for both normality and abnormality, time constraints, and statistical limitation of the fitness of any parametric models. We propose a fully unsupervised dynamic sparse coding approach for detecting unusual events in videos based on online sparse re-constructibility of query signals from an atomically learned event dictionary, which forms a sparse coding bases. Based on an intuition that usual events in a video are more likely to be reconstructible from an event dictionary, whereas unusual events are not, our algorithm employs a principled convex optimization formulation that allows both a sparse reconstruction code, and an online dictionary to be jointly inferred and updated. Our algorithm is completely un-supervised, making no prior assumptions of what unusual events may look like and the settings of the cameras. The fact that the bases dictionary is updated in an online fashion as the algorithm observes more data, avoids any issues with concept drift. Experimental results on hours of real world surveillance video and several Youtube videos show that the proposed algorithm could reliably locate the unusual events in the video sequence, outperforming the current state-of-the-art methods.
