Call for Papers for Special Issue on: The Internationalisation of Chinese Firms into
the Western World

This special issue aims to investigate Chinese firms’ internationalisation into the western countries. Studies
on export activities, export barriers and export motives of born globals/international new ventures and other
types of internationalisers, and also Chinese firms’ foreign direct investments, international joint ventures,
mergers, acquisitions and divestments are welcome. Papers can be conceptual or based on quantitative,
qualitative or mixed methods.
Subject Coverage
Topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
Business opportunities and impediments arising from changes in Chinese firms’ economic
environment
Chinese firms’ export performance
Chinese firms’ export motives and barriers
Export promotion programs of China
Chinese exporters’ de- and re-internationalisation (foreign market exits and re-entries)
Psychic distance of internationalising Chinese firms
The impact of network relationships on Chinese firms’ internationalisation
Immigrant and re-migrant entrepreneurship in China
The impact of ownership change on Chinese firms’ internationalisation
Foreign direct investments by Chinese firms
International joint ventures in China
Mergers and acquisitions in China
Factors causing Chinese firms’ divestment decisions
