A rescue excavation carried out in 1986 at Creac'h Gwen near Quimper, revealed remains of an important seulement dating to the end of the early medieval period. This seulement, situated within a system of ditches, comprised a smelting furnace, a corn-drying oven and the remains of several post-hole constructions including a large aisled building.
