The central component of a WebLogic Server domain is a server instance, or more specifically, a JVM that is running the WebLogic Server main class. In this chapter we discuss in detail what options are available for an administrator to configure and run such a server instance, both the default options, and how to customize the setup process for cases when the standard procedure may not suit the needs of a particular environment.

First and Second Order Weight Functions for Mixed-Mode Crack Problems

A new procedure, based on the decomposition of crack-tip fields, is developed to evaluate first and second order fracture mechanics weight functions. The procedure which employs the standard boundary element formulation is applied to the problems of slant edge and central cracks in rectangular sheets. Cultural Similarities and Differences in Emblematic Gestures

Despite longstanding interest in cultural differences in emblems, there have only been a few systematic investigations of those differences, and to date there is no study that catalogues and compares emblems across different cultural groups to a standard list of verbal messages. This study does so. Encoders from six world regions produced potential emblems from a standard verbal message list. ... [Show full abstract] Gestures that were encoded by at least 70% of the encoders in a region were shown to observers from the same regions, and gestures that were judged correctly as the message intended by at least 70% of the decoders in that region were considered emblems. These procedures resulted in the cataloguing of cultural differences in emblems to the same verbal message list. Surprisingly, the results also indicated a small group of emblems that were similarly encoded and decoded across cultures.

To meet these needs, organizations are adopting time-based manufacturing practices to cut time and improve performance. This study measures the levels of time-based manufacturing practices, work system practices, and competitive capabilities of 265 firms. The results indicate that firms with high levels of time-based manufacturing practices tend to have high levels of standardization and formalization as well as integration. Firms with high levels of standardization and integration tended to have enhanced competitive capabilities.

The germ-grain model is defined as the union of independent identically distributed compact random sets (grains) shifted by points (germs) of a point process. The paper introduces a family of stationary random measures in R^d generated by germ-grain models and defined by the sum of contributions of non-overlapping parts of the individual grains. [Show full abstract] central limit theorem for these random measures, which holds for rather general independently marked germ-grain models, including those with non-Poisson distribution of germs and non-convex grains. It is shown that this construction of random measures includes those random measures obtained by positively extended intrinsic volumes. In the Poisson case it is possible to prove a central limit theorem under weaker assumptions by using approximations by m-dependent random fields. Applications to statistics of the Boolean model are also discussed. They include a standard way to derive limit theorems for estimators of the model parameters.
