Space Based Cyanobacteria Information & Service (CyanoAlert)

The CyanoAlert service will be a global service for the environmental authorities and commercial sector, concerned by health risks and quality of water resources. The service will deliver a fully a utomated application for assessing toxin producing cyanobacteria blooms in water resources globally, using Copernicus satellite earth observation remote sensing technology. The service foresees a dual dissemination system that provides user-specific information for monitoring and reporting purposes to paying customers, and a free and open information for the public through web and mobile applications. The consortium consists of three implementation partners, Brockmann Consult (Germany), Odermatt & Brockmann (Switzerland) and Brockmann Geomatics (Sweden), for the technical implementation of the Service, and three pilot user partners the County Administrative Board of Stockholm (Sweden),The Italian National Institute of Health (Italy) and the Danube Delta National Institute for Research and Development (Romania). The pilot user partners will integrate the service into their daily operations to demonstrate its usability and value. Knowing the sedimentation rate and sediment lithology deposited in the riverbed or the bottom of a lake is one of the best ways to study the evolution of water basin parameters and climate variations throughout time. This provides information on the variations in the flow rates of the main course and tributaries, the rainfall regime as well as information on possible interventions of the ... [Show full abstract] anthropic factor on the river basin and the environment. The mineralogical composition of the detritical fractions and the presence of the carbonate compounds are the elements that best reflect the variations of the magnetic susceptibility present on various intervals of the cores extracted from the bottom of the watercourse. Sediments can be separated into organic matter (OM), detritical fraction (DF) and the carbonic component resulting by precipitation (CA). [1], [2] Because the organic component has paramagnetic behaviour and the carbonatic component have a slightly diamagnetic character it results that the significant variations in magnetic susceptibility are generated by mineralogical variations of the detritical component.

In 2007, Ciconia nigra was observed on two occasions (April and August) at Maramures district level in Măgura Codrului. The Black Stork was found in the woodland area of a hummock nearby a stream, as well as in Arinis nearby the ponds along the river Salaj.

The study area is an 83 km section along the middle Olt River, between the town of Făgăraș (45.8512° N, 24.9733° E) and the Carpathian gorges (45.5317° N, 24.2721° E), in the region of Transylvania, Romania.
