Space Based Cyanobacteria Information & Service (CyanoAlert)

The CyanoAlert service will be a global service for the environmental authorities and commercial sector, concerned by health risks and quality of water resources. The service will deliver a fully a utomated application for assessing toxin producing cyanobacteria blooms in water resources globally, using Copernicus satellite earth observation remote sensing technology. The service foresees a dual dissemination system that provides user-specific information for monitoring and reporting purposes to paying customers, and a free and open information for the public through web and mobile applications. The consortium consists of three implementation partners, Brockmann Consult (Germany), Odermatt & Brockmann (Switzerland) and Brockmann Geomatics (Sweden), for the technical implementation of the Service, and three pilot user partners the County Administrative Board of Stockholm (Sweden),The Italian National Institute of Health (Italy) and the Danube Delta National Institute for Research and Development (Romania). The pilot user partners will integrate the service into their daily operations to demonstrate its usability and value. Flows in graphite-, diamond- and silicon-walled nanochannels are discussed by performing molecular dynamics simulations. Flows in carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene- walled nanochannels are also investigated. It is found that the flow rate in the graphite-walled channel tends to be the largest because of its slippery wall structure by the short bond length and the high molecular density of the ... [Show full abstract] CNTs. The flow rate in the single walled CNT at a very narrow diameter tends to increase although such a tendency is not seen in the graphene-walled channel.

New Evidence Supporting an Ice-covered Lake in Gusev Crater

May 2002

The morphology and setting of a groove in Gusev strongly supports the hypothesis of a lateral channel generated by meltwater flowing against an ice covered lake margin. The size of the groove and the slope of the bed independent of the topography of the crater are consistent with modest discharges. Comparison of 1980 Lake Huron, Georgian Bay - North Channel surveillance data with historical data

A statistical regionalization procedure was used to delineate significantly (p 0.10) different areas, for a variety of surveillance parameters measured in 1980 in Lake Huron and Georgian Bay-North Channel. The analyses performed were compared with similar analyses done on 1971 (Lake Huron) and 1974 (Georgian Bay-North Channel) data. The regions produced from the 1980 analyses compared favourably ... [Show full abstract] with the 1971 and 1974 analyses. Significant (p 0.01) increases in NO3NO2-N and RSiO2 were observed for Lake Huron between the 1971 and 1980 data sets. Significant (p 0.01) increases in NO3NO2-N and significant (p 0.01) decreases in TP and chlorophyll a were observed for Georgian Bay-North Channel between the 1974 and 1980 data sets.

Analysis of NRZ and RZ soliton transmission in DWDM systems at 10 GHz for XPM effects

In this Paper we reveal the Quality factor performance resulting from XPM effect for NRZ and RZ soliton transmitting formats at 10 Gb/s with channel spacing of 12. 5 GHz and 10 GHz. It is seen that for gain of 10 dB, Quality factor is very low for all dispersion values. RZ soliton is better than NRZ at distance of 200 km and at large distance of 3200 km. As we increase the core effective area from 10 μm2 towards 100 μm2we get the better Quality factor for both NRZ rectangular and RZ soliton.
