Recently, the coreid species Plinachtus imitator (Reuter, 1891), which originally was described by
Reuter (1891) as Gonocerus insidiator F. var. imitator, was reported as new to the fauna of Albania (van
der Heyden, 2017). In this note, the first records of the very similar species Gonocerus insidiator
(Fabricius, 1787) in Albania are published.
The genus Gonocerus Berthold, 1827 includes nine species; three of them can be found in the
Mediterranean Region: Gonocerus acuteangulatus (Goeze, 1778), G. insidiator and G. juniperi Herrich-
Schäffer, 1839 (Fauna Europaea, 2017).
G. insidiator is considered a Holomediterranean species. So far, in Europe it has been reported
from Portugal, Spain (including the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands), France, Italy, Croatia,
Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Greece and Cyprus (Dolling, 2006; Aukema et al., 2013; Moulet, 2013;
BiodiversidadVirtual.org, 2017; Fauna Europaea, 2017). Records from Malta are incorrect (Carapezza &
Mifsud, 2015).
The species has been found on various host plants such as Cistus sp. (Cistaceae), Quercus sp.
(Fagaceae), Pistacia sp. (Anacardiaceae), Daphne sp. (Thymelaeaceae), Phlomis sp. and Lavandula sp.
(Lamiaceae) and Arbutus sp. (Ericaceae) (CoreoideaSF Team, 2017).
On 7.07.2017, Aleksander Golemaj was able to take photographs of an imago of G. insidiator in
Jalë near the city of Vlorë in southern Albania (Fig. 1). One month later, on 10.08.2017, he observed and
photographed an adult specimen of G. insidiator at the same locality.

New data on the Heteroptera fauna of La Palma, Canary Islands (Insecta: Hemiptera). In: KMENT P., MALENOVSKÝ I. & KOLIBÁÈ J. (eds.): Studies in Hemiptera in honour of Pavel Lauterer and Jaroslav L. Stehlík. Acta Musei Moraviae, Scientiae biologicae (Brno) 98(2): 459–493. – Heteroptera collected on La Palma in the Canary Islands during the period 2001–2012 are listed. Data for 153 species are given, including 28 species recorded for the first time from La Palma. Six of these species are also new for the Canary Islands: Cantacader quadricornis (Lepeletier et Serville, 1828) (Tingidae), Bryocoris pteridis (Fallén, 1807), Macrolophus pygmaeus (Rambur, 1839), Thiomiris sulphureus (Reuter, 1879) (all Miridae), Amphiareus obscuriceps (Poppius, 1909) (Anthocoridae) and Ischnodemus quadratus Fieber, 1837 (Lygaeidae). Furthermore, the occurrence of eight species on La Palma is confirmed. With this contribution the number of species known from the Canary Islands and La Palma increases to 400 and 216 respectively. The number of Canarian endemic species on La Palma is 48 (22.2 %). Lindbergopsallus lauri Rieger, 2012 and L. lunariae Rieger, Strauß et Günther, 2011 (Miridae), Collartida tanausu J. Ribes, Oromi et E. Ribes, 1998 (Reduviidae) and Nysius gloriae Baena et Garcia, 1999 (Lygaeidae) are only known from La Palma.

A list of 133 species of heteropteran bugs collected from the Maltese Islands is presented; 21 of them are new records for the Maltese archipelago whereas an additional 15 represent new records for individual islands of this archipelago. The new records are of native origin in the Maltese Islands with the exception of Corythauma ayyari which is an Oriental species rapidly expanding its distribution range in Europe and Saudi Arabia. Earlier records of Capsodes gothicus and Gonocerus insidiator from Malta are incorrect and should refer to C. vittiventris and G. imitator respectively. The presence of Tuponia brevirostris in Malta is confirmed since this record was previously based only on the catalogue of Palaearctic Heteroptera without original data. A total of 15 species previously reported from the Maltese Islands are considered as doubtful. Considering the results of the present paper with additions and corrections made to the checklist of Maltese Heteroptera, the total number of confirmed records is augmented to 232 (221 in Malta, 74 on Gozo and 38 on Comino).
