Characterization and Modelling of a Physico-Chemical Impedance Battery Model Based on the Tesla Model S Cell in Half-Cells



In this work a parametrization approach as well as the modelling of a physico-chemical impedance model are explained. Furthermore relaxation behavior on the full-cell and the half-cells are shown. Finally the validation of the parametrized model is presented. The main relaxation effect in the full-cell is caused by different graphite plateaus and is strongly dependent on the direction (charge / discharge). After transiting over a solid-solution regime a homogenization and therefore a fast relaxation can be observed. The shown effect for the transition from the graphite 2L-2 stage to the 2-1 stage can be also seen at the 4L-3L to 1L-4L stage though to a lesser extend.
