RAiISE: Raising awareness of invisible illnesses in schools and education

Authors:

Abstract and Figures

Being ill is difficult enough without the added stress of people misunderstanding, but many people with ‘invisible’ illnesses struggle to get adequate support from their school, college or university. RAiISE was founded, and is run by, young people with invisible illnesses, their families and education and health professionals who can share lived experiences of invisible illness. RAiISE is currently producing an information pack for school staff containing resources to ensure young people get the support they need. We aim to: 1. Educate and help staff to support students with invisible illnesses; 2. Raise public awareness of invisible illnesses to improve understanding; 3. Empower young people to take control of their illness and care.
