Length of body: 8 mm; length of forewing: 12.5 mm; breadth: 4.7 mm; length of hindwing: 8 mm; breadth: 3.8 mm; length of antenna: 7.8 mm; frons, in frontal view, nearly 2 × the width of compound eye; compound eye black, almost circular, diameter 0.7 mm, in lateral view; ocelli almost circular, diameter 0.16 mm, in lateral view; chaetosemata rounded; unscaled space between compound eye and ocellus 0.23 mm. Labial palps short, dark brown. Proboscis dark brown. Frons, vertex, tegulae, patagia, thorax and abdomen covered with dark brown scales. Antenna. Dark brown with a dorsal slight bluish sheen, with 49 segments, bipectinate, pointed at apex, maximum length of pectination 0.85 mm. Wings. Upper-and underside almost transparent except veins, margins and fringes dark brown. All veins free from cell. Upper side of wings covered with double or triple apex scales of different shape; very small scales arranged vertically to surface of wing in translucent parts and bigger scales arranged in flat layers on veins and opaque parts. Forewing. With proximal area, posterior space of costa, posterior space of anal vein and margin opaque. Hindwing. With margin, anterior part of medial stem and M 1 and cell opaque. Legs. Covered with brown scales; foreleg with tibial epiphysis; mid-and hindleg with one pair of apical tibial spurs. Male genitalia (fig. 2). Uncus short, angled-shape, heavily sclerotized at distal part, with a pointed claw-shaped at distal end (length 0.60 mm). tegumen nearly 1.45 × longer than uncus. Valva with a curl-like process on the ventral margin of sacculus below the apex; apex of costa semicircular. A new species of the subgenus Illiberis from China

Abstract
Illiberis (Illiberis)crispa n. sp. from Hainan Island is described. A key to the males of all known species of the
subgenus Illiberis Walker, 1854, is provided.
Résumé
Une nouvelle espèce du sous-genre Illiberis de Chine, Illiberis (Illiberis) crispa n. sp. de l’île de Hainan, est
décrite. Une clé des mâles de toutes les espèces connues du sous-genre Illiberis Walker, 1854, est donnée.

Introduction
The genus Illiberis Walker, 1854, is currently divided in five subgenera (K. A. EFETOV.
& G. M. TARMANN, 2012): Nikilliberis Efetov & Tarmann, 2012, Primilliberis Alberti, 1954,
Illiberis Walker, 1854, Euphacusa, Matsumura, 1927, and Alterasvenia Alberti, 1971.
The habitus of the new species is similar to that of the other species of the subgenus Illiberis,
i.e. Illiberis (Illiberis) sinensis Walker, 1854, I. (I.) assimilis Jordan, 1907, I. (I.) hoenei
Alberti, 1954, and I. (I.) ellenae Alberti, 1954.
The male genitalic characters that support the taxonomic status of the subgenus Illiberis
are the presence of an extension, like a process on the costa and on the sacculus at apex of valvae
and in I. (I.) assimilis and I. (I.) hoenei the presence of a process on ventral margin of the
sacculus. Species of the subgenus Illiberis share also the presence of a slender phallus without
a cornutus. The genitalia of the newly described species differs from the other species of the
subgenus Illiberis by the shape of the valvae and the presence of a characteristic process of
a different shape on ventral margin of the sacculus. Otherwise the phallus is slender and without
a cornutus, similar to that of the subgenus Illiberis. Without the knowledge of the female and
without stronger differentiation, to create a new subgenus to receive this new species is
unfounded. Consequently the new species is placed provisionally in the subgenus Illiberis.

Description

Etymology. This new species is named by using the Latin adjective “crispus” because
of the very characteristic curl-like process on the ventral margin of the sacculus.
Differential diagnosis
The habitus of Illiberis (Illiberis) crispa n. sp. is similar to that of I. (I.) sinensis,
I. (I.) assimilis and the sympatric species Illiberis (Alterasvenia)wuzhiensis Mollet, 2015, and
I. (A.) yuenna nensis Alberti, 1951, while I. (I.) hoenei and I. (I.) ellenae differ by their smaller
size. I. (I.) crispa n. sp. can easily be separated by the male genitalia from the other species of
the subgenus Illiberis according to the key below.

DNA barcoding of Zygaenidae (Lepidoptera): results and perspectives

The present study provides a DNA barcode library for the world Zygaenidae (Lepidoptera). This study reports 1031 sequence data of the COI gene DNA barcodes for more than 240 species in four of the five subfamilies of the family Zygaenidae. This is about 20% of the world Zygaenidae species. Our results demonstrate the specificity of the COI gene sequences at the species level in most of the studied Zygaenidae and agree with already established taxonomic opinions. The study confirms the effectiveness of DNA barcoding as a tool for determination of most Zygaenidae species. However, some of the results are contradictory. Some cases of shared barcodes have been found, as well as cases of deep intraspecific sequence divergence in species that are well separated by morphological and biological characters. These cases are discussed in detail. Overall, when combined with morphological and biochemical data, as well as biological and ecological observations, DNA barcoding results can be a useful support for taxonomic decisions.

The monophyletic origin of Procridinae as a subfamily of Zygaenidae is supported by four autapomorphies. The subfamily is newly devided into two tribes: Artonini trib. n. and Procridini Boisduval, [1828]. The Callizygaeninae (so far treated as tribe to Procridinae) are considered to form a distinct subfamily of Zygaenidae: Callizygaeninae stat. n.

A Taxonomic Revision of Illiberis Walker (Lepidoptera: Zygaenidae: Procridinae) in Korea

The Korean species of Illiberis Walker are revised. A total of 10 species are recognized, including four species new to Korea: I. rotundata Jordan, I. psychina (OberthÜr), I. consimilis Leech, and I. hyalina (Staudinger). The identities of I. cybele Leech and I. assimilis Jordan, the two ambiguously defined Korean species, are reconfirmed with the examination of type specimens and additional materials. Photos of the adults and type materials are provided, and male and female genitalia of each species are illustrated. Biology and distribution for each species are briefly discussed with the larval host records from Korea.
