Generalized Convex Functions and Some Inequalities on Fractal Sets

In the paper, we introduce the generalized convex function on fractal sets and study the properties of the generalized convex function. Based on these properties, we establish the generalized Jensen's inequality and generalized Hermite-Hadamard's inequality on fractal sets. Furthermore, some applications are given .

Natural fractal objects, unlike their mathematical counterparts, tend to exhibit power law scaling over a limited range of scales. In this paper a prefractal theoretical framework is constructed for natural fractal objects and illustrated through the application to natural crack surfaces. It is shown how the prefractal model gives the same size effect law as incorporated by existing recent fractal theories, but with the advantage of retaining the correct physical dimensions. The prefractal theory developed within the paper has general application to a range of other scientific and engineering problems.

The causes of data reuse in storage control cache are often hierarchical. For example, reuse may be caused by repeated requests in the same subroutine; by different routines called to process the same transaction; or by multiple transactions needed to carry out some overall task at the user level. This paper develops a model of cache locality based on the assumption of hierarchical behavior. The ... [Show full abstract] model applies the concept of statistical self-similarity, which arises often in the study of fractals, to infer a very simple method of approximating cache miss ratios. The model's approximations are checked empirically against a large number of I/O traces and are shown to be highly serviceable. The model is then applied to the problems of cache miss ratio projection, trace-based measurement of cache miss ratios, and allocation and dynamic management of cache resources.
