It is with great pleasure and excitement that I welcome you all to Rio and to IEEE ITSC 2016! In its 19 th edition and having travelled many countries already, I'm highly honoured to lead the organization of the prestigious flagship conference of IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society, held for the first time in the Southern Hemisphere, more specifically in Brazil. What a great historical moment to our community!

The beginnings of women education in Montenegro. Girls Institute in Cetinje

The key objective of our work is the study and presentation of educational and cultural position of women in Montenegro, with a special focus on the work of the Girls Institute in Cetinje. Using historical and methods of theoretical analysis, available archival materials and other relevant sources, focused on the work of the first women's educational institutions in Montenegro, we have tried to ... [Show full abstract] understand the contribution of the Institute of the emancipation of the Montenegrin cultural environment, at the end of XIX and at the beginning of XX century. By studying and comparative reviewing of the available data from various relevant sources, we have analyzed the fundamental component of the comprehensive program and methods of the Girls Institute work. In the framework of specific so-cio-historical and socio-cultural situation in Montenegro, dominated by the patriarchal family model and submissive position of women, Girls Institute strongly influenced changes in society, cultural and family milieu, at both explicit and implicit level. First educated women in Montenegro will significantly contribute to changing habits and normal patterns of community, different position of women and emancipation of traditionally petrified family structure. In addition, the Institute will establish strong inter-cultural relationships with other South Slavic Areal and gradually change the views of residents of the small Montenegrin Principality on life and customs of other cultures. The last manager of the Institute, a reputable Sofia P. Mertvago, contributed outstanding achievements and unquestionably high reputation of Girls Institute with permanent and dedicated support by Montenegrin prince and princess. © 2018 Historical Society of Southern Primorska of Koper. The dream of a community of philosophers engaged in inquiry with shared standards of evidence and justification has long been with us. It has led some thinkers puzzled by our mathematical experience to look to mathematics for adjudication between competing views. I am skeptical of this approach and consider Skolem's philosophical uses of the Löwenheim-Skolem Theorem to exemplify it. I argue that ... [Show full abstract] these uses invariably beg the questions at issue. I say ‘uses’, because I claim further that Skolem shifted his position on the philosophical significance of the theorem as a result of a shift in his background beliefs. The nature of this shift and possible explanations for it are investigated. Ironically, Skolem's own case provides a historical example of the philosophical flexibility of his theorem.Our suspicion ought always to be aroused when a proof proves more than its means allow it. Travelling by cruise ship is undergoing a renaissance. It is more popular than ever. It represents a return to slowness as a revered aspect of mobility. Journeys are valued for their own sake. This paper examines life aboard a container ship, which is not only slow but also ‘visits’ ports sans tourist allure. On the surface, it is a ‘nothing to do’ space. Passengers experience time feast not time famine, where the sturm und drang of being ‘at sea’ assumes particular interest. Using an autoethnographic approach, the temporal and special practices of four passengers travelling on a French container ship from Sydney to Philadelphia are analysed.

The 31st Annual Meeting of the Division of Particles and Fields (DPyC) of the Mexican Physical Society was held at the José Ádem Auditorium in Cinvestav-IPN, Mexico City, Mexico, on 24-26 May 2017. [Show full abstract] given. These numbers and the unquestionable scientific quality of the research work presented show the success of this meeting. In the days immediately before the meeting (22-23 May 2017) we organized a Tau Physics mini-Workshop, which can be considered the third edition of a series started in Krakow [1, 2], and where we had 12 invited seminars fostering discussions between the local Community working on Tau Physics and the invited foreign speakers, who participated in our national meeting as well. All presenters of both meetings were invited to contribute and roughly half of them accepted. We thank them for this effort, which made these proceedings possible.

O presente artigo os analisa do ponto de vista da ideologia e das práticas sociais de seus enunciadores. Abstract: German travellers that came to Brazil in the XIX century had produced documents about the brazilian population based on the illuminist ideology and, fundamentally, in the Bildung concept. These reports are still essential historic sources for the comprehension of our colonial and imperial past that will certainly contribute, direct or indirectly, to identity constructions related to our own literate elite in Brazil, after they interact with these speeches. The present paper analyses them by the ideology point of view and by the social practices of their enunciators.
