Abstract

This work offers an analytical view about the problems related to electricity generation using fossil fuels and the role renewable energy can played, especially solar photovoltaic and wind energy applied to distributed generation, diversification. An analysis about the historical development of the regulatory framework posed in a group of countries. Also an analysis of the main consequences associated with the deregulation of the Ecuadorian market linked to renewable sources is presented. Photovoltaic energy is mainly considered, as well as an insight on the importance of implementing an appropriate regulatory system, and support measures which regulate new ways of generation and supply of energy. The main concern is mostly related to the incorporation of independent producers as a new pattern in the system of power generation in the country. New concepts are considered for drawing supportive measures and specific regulations related to RES as well as the competence of a group of specific regulations which aim at regulating the payment of the electricity generated by independent producers. Chromatic scale maps are shown on the study of solar and wind, which can be used to make the feasibility studies prior to the introduction of technologies that allow us to use these sources.

Renewable energy presents a sustainable substitute to fossil fuels, offering potential for reduced greenhouse gas emissions, enhanced energy security, and environmental sustainability. This review analyzes the technical, economic, social, environmental, and policy barriers hindering renewable energy adoption. Challenges such as intermittency, high initial costs, socio-cultural resistance, and regulatory fragmentation are explored alongside region-specific barriers in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. A systematic review of literature sourced from Science Direct, Academia, and Google Scholar was conducted, focusing on publications addressing thematic and regional perspectives from 2014 onward. The findings reveal a complex interplay of barriers across these domains. Technical challenges include the need for more accurate forecasting tools, scalable energy storage systems, and smart grid infrastructure. Economic constraints stem from high capital costs, insufficient financial mechanisms, and socio-economic disparities. Social acceptance is hindered by cultural resistance, aesthetic concerns, and lack of public engagement. Environmental barriers involve lifecycle impacts and biodiversity concerns, while policy fragmentation and inadequate governance frameworks impede progress. Addressing these gaps requires targeted solutions, such as AI-driven forecasting systems, hybrid energy storage technologies, inclusive financing mechanisms, and harmonized policy frameworks. By tackling these challenges, stakeholders can facilitate a global transition to renewable energy, ensuring a sustainable and equitable energy future. This review highlights critical areas for research and practical intervention, providing a roadmap for overcoming the barriers to renewable energy adoption.

Abstract – Currently, in Ecuador, the participation of photovoltaic energy is practically symbolic. In the province of Manabí, generation continues to be carried out through the intensive use of fossil fuel, which is expensive, inefficient, and polluting. This happens in a territory with optimal potential. Hence, the objective of the work is to demonstrate the feasibility of introducing a photovoltaic microgrid through the case study. Due to its simplicity and versatility, a methodology was applied to generalize experiences in other territories with similar geographical and climatic conditions. Field research was applied, and the method corresponds to the descriptive-deductive method, using a Geographic Information System (GIS) as a geographic information manager. The PVsyst 6.8.6 tool was used for the technical design of the installation, and the HOMER software was used for the economic feasibility analysis. The results demonstrate the relevance of introducing the photovoltaic microgrid in the distributed generation mode to increase the quality of service and the system's efficiency, reduce energy costs, promote the preservation of natural resources, and reduce CO2 emissions environment. Nowadays, human use of herbs increases especially with the huge benefits of herbs in medical and food aspects. These plants could be exposed to irradiated contamination and being risk sources of human health. Different studies showed that many places of Al-Muthanna province contained risky levels of Radon-222 (222Rn). In this study, 222Rn has been detected in different types of herbs that were collected from various markets in Al-Muthanna with nineteen types of herbs. Continuous Radon Monitoring (CRM-1029) was used to detect 222Rn levels in the herbs. The highest rates were recorded in Cinnamon (imported from India) was (21.5 Bq/m3), while the lowest rates were in Nigella sativa (from India too) was (6.65 Bq/m3). The measured rates were higher than known acceptable levels because the radiological study shows that consumption of the studied for herbals plants would impose no health with more than (7 Bq/m3) and when compare with the sample of without materials, but if using the herbals plants to cook or with meals which in this study, using not more 1-2 days per month to get the decay of radiation of radon in the human body and depended on the reported in literature. It is recommended to re-evaluate the 222Rn concentrations in other types of food and herbs either imported or local planted.

It presents an analysis linked to one of the sustainable energy alternatives that are currently being adopted with worldwide success. Putting the field research method into practice. The results of a study related to an application of technological innovation to reduce the amount of the electricity bill in the building of the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical, and Chemical Sciences (FCMFQ), by introducing photovoltaic technology connected to the network of the low tension of the institution. The results of the study of load and hourly consumption of energy of the entity are shown and an own methodology is deployed for the technological design of a photovoltaic power plant connected to the network, which can avoid the consumption of energy of the conventional network, reducing the amount of the electric bill of the faculty, managing to reduce losses, improve the quality of electric service and reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.
