Cycle natural and social, shown in the figure below, predicts the appearance of the world in the near future, a new leader who understands the principles of the historical process and intelligently guide humanity realizing her dreams and desires. This article seeks to address the question of why Dante likens Paradise to the quest of the Argonauts, even though Jason is the hero who deceives Hypsipyle and Medea with false, underhanded rhetoric. After analysing the role played by the figure of Jason in Fiore and in Inferno, the article goes on to consider the relationship between Dante's Argonauts and the version that emerged in the Trojan ... [Show full abstract] cycle of the late Antiquities, in which Jason's expedition was viewed as an antecedent to the Trojan War. The influence of this tradition on Dante seems to be supported by a passage from the fifth epistle, in which Dante considers the Argonauts' quest as representing the historical premise for universal monarchy. Some textual clues seem to support the theory that Dantes vision of the Argonauts was taken at least to some extent from Guido delle Colonne's Historia destructions Troiae. One possible solution to the question at hand is then proposed, based on the view that Dante s Paradise represented a means through which the author could promote an ideal Christian monarchy, just as the quest of the Argonauts had favoured the advent of Augustus' universal Empire.

The influence of Solar periodicity on the terrestrial temperature variations.

January 2002

Historical temperature measurements and other temperature data sets reconstructed using dendrochronology are used to assess the influence of solar activity on climate variations. It is shown, that the 11-year solar cycle does not have any apparent effect on the variations of temperature. Spectral correlation analysis is used to find the influence of other solar periodicities on climate change.

Impacts of climate changes on parameters of weather generator BCC/RCG-WG for daily non-precipitation...

Parameters of daily non-precipitation variables including maximum temperature, minimum temperature and sunshine hours simulation at 699 stations in China of weather generator BCC/RCG-WG are estimated using historical daily records from 1951 to 1978 and from 1979 to 2007 respectively. The two sets of parameters for the two periods are compared to explore the impact of climate change on these ... [Show full abstract] parameters. The results show that the parameters of non-precipitation variables have experienced different changes, while the annual means and the amplitudes of the seasonal cycle show a significant change, and the interannual variability, seasonal timing and temporal correlations for each variable remain practically unchanged. This indicates that climate change in China in terms of these variables are mainly reflected in changes in the means and in the strength of the seasonal cycles. The changed parameters have implications for the stationarity assumption implied in the parameter estimation and use of the weather generator.

As many cultural historians of the sciences have recently indicated, eighteenth-century illustrations of natural historical works represent an important source that can be used to explore the ways in which nature and the study of nature were regarded in the period. Naturalistic illustrations, however, are not the only genre of images that may help the historian in this investigation. Another ... [Show full abstract] interesting source is represented by images of nature and natural objects connected with fictional literature. Yet, little attention has been devoted so far to this genre of images. In this paper I analyse some of the engravings which illustrate Rétif de la Bretonne’s imaginary voyage La Découverte australe par un homme volant (1781). My aim is to show that these illustrations convey a well-defined image of the natural universe, and that their analysis may contribute to our understanding of the various significances and roles attached to Nature in the period—particularly bringing to the fore its moral and political uses. Further, by analysing the ways in which they connect and integrate a variety of artistic and discursive traditions related to fiction, travel, and natural history, I hope to suggest some of the ways in which this genre of images may be used to shed light on the eighteenth-century interplay between spheres of knowledge later assigned to such distinct disciplines as ‘science’, ‘literature’, or ‘art’.

Calculation of dynamic loads of the sucker rod pumping system in CBM wells

The mathematical model of dynamic loads was developed based on an analysis of the polished rod load of beam pumps, and the variation of the dynamic loads and the computation of the minimum and maximum limits during a complete pumping cycle were given out by solving the model. Field examples verify that it is necessary to take into account the inertial and vibration loads while calculating ... [Show full abstract] polished rod loads. During the prophase of the pumping production, the dynamic to polished rod load ratio is relatively large. Then the ratio decreases rapidly and becomes small after entering stable production. Moreover, the total deformation of rod and tubing in CBM wells is much smaller than that in oil fields, and the deformation caused by the dynamic loads is also relatively small. The result of this work is the calculation of the dynamic loads. The application of this calculation for the sucker rod pumping system in CBM wells can give the desired accuracy of polished rod load and the dynamometer cards, which provides a reasonable basis for the design and selection of beam pumps. In order to reveal the effects of hydrogen on reversed torsion low cycle fatigue of a carbon steel JIS-545C, strain controlled low cycle fatigue tests were carried out under reversed torsion loading using hydrogen charged and uncharged specimens. The specimens were polished with buff, and then were charged hydrogen by immersing in 20 mass% NH_4SCN solution at 313 K for 48 hours. The failure lives ... [Show full abstract] of hydrogen charged specimens are the almost same as those of uncharged at the Mises strain range from 0.5% to 1.2%, however, the failure lives of hydrogen charged specimens are longer than those of uncharged at the Mises strain range of 1.5%. There is a slightly effect of hydrogen charging on stress-strain relation, and the stress range of hydrogen charged specimen becomes smaller than that of uncharged.

The concept of Personal Information Management (PIM) is currently a hot topic of research, although its basic ideas have a long history. In this chapter we argue that many of the goals of PIM research are highly relevant to tasks that gather and organize large amounts of data; in particular, to Intelligence tasks. Hence, the intelligence community should pay attention to the developments in this area. After providing some basic background on the Intelligence Cycle, we examine the concept of PIM, point out some issues that are relevant to intelligence work, and discuss some areas of research that PIMs should address in order to be even more relevant to the Intelligence Community.
