Abstract
The final last mile of your Ph.D. journey is getting closer. Finally, it is your dissertation defense. You are one step closer to your Ph.D. degree. This chapter would discuss how to prepare your dissertation defense. Your dissertation defense can be an open/public seminar or closed examination or both. This chapter would describe different preparations that you need for different types of dissertation defense.

New graduate students are often unaware of the many hazards and pitfalls that occur during the dissertation process: intensive schedules, dwindling motivation, difficult or unavailable mentors, and research and publication complications. Lacking the experience and wherewithal to successfully overcome or avoid these impetuses for derailment, many students are unable to complete the dissertation process, losing sight somewhere in between reading, studying, collecting data, and writing a thesis.
