Empirical Comparison of Model Consistency Between Ontology-Driven Conceptual Modeling and Traditiona...

This paper conducts an empirical study that explores the differences between adopting a traditional conceptual modeling (TCM) technique and an ontology-driven conceptual modeling (ODCM) technique with the objective to understand how these techniques influence the consistency between the resulting conceptual models. Next, this hypothesis is tested in a rigorously developed experiment, where a total of 100 students from two different Universities participated. The findings of our empirical study confirm that there do exist meaningful differences between adopting the two techniques. We observed that novice modelers applying the ODCM technique arrived at higher consistent models compared to novice modelers applying the TCM technique. More specifically, our results indicate that the adoption of an ontological way of thinking facilitates modelers in constructing higher consistent models.

Methodology: activity and learner-centered approaches Results: The study raised the educational environment conducive to the formation of creativity, such as subject-subject relations between teacher and students, the actualization of the students life experience and the use of problem-based learning, and describes how to implement them in university educational process. Method efficiency is confirmed by the results of experimental work made by the authors. Practical implications: training of technologic educated future bachelors at university.

The Effect of Peripheral Micro-tasks on Crowd Ideation

Research has explored different ways of improving crowd ideation, such as presenting examples or employing facilitators. While such support is usually generated through peripheral tasks delegated to crowd workers who are not part of the ideation, it is possible that the ideators themselves could benefit from the extra thought involved in doing them. Therefore, we iterate over an ideation system ... [Show full abstract] in which ideators can perform one of three peripheral tasks (rating originality and usefulness, similarity, or idea combination) on demand. In controlled experiments with workers on Mechanical Turk, we compare the effects of these secondary tasks to simple idea exposure or no support at all, examining usage of the inspirations, fluency, breadth, and depth of ideas generated. We find tasks to be as good or better than exposure, although this depends on the period of ideation and the fluency level. We also discuss implications of inspiration size, homogeneity, and frequency.

[Show full abstract] significance, especially since these rates pertain to different aspects of the process of monetary circulation. Indeed, as soon as one adopts a circuitist perspective where credit relations are crucial and where, inter alia, the distinction, made famous by Graziani (1987), between initial and final finance, becomes relevant, suddenly the relations among the various rates associated with the flux/reflux process take on new meaning and offer insights that were hitherto inconceivable within traditional macroeconomic analysis. The object of this chapter is to discuss how some of these interest rates are envisioned within the framework of the monetary circuit, and what theoretical and empirical implications changes in both levels and interest spreads could have on macroeconomic performance.
