A one-stop logistic services framework supporting global supply chain collaboration

Abstract

A global enterprise must continuously improve the efficiency of logistic operations between supply chain collaborators. Integrating logistic services, resources, and necessary information flows in the supply chain to ensure efficiency and efficacy is critically important to these companies. Global logistic service companies face challenges from their clients to provide logistic services that are cost effective, accurate, and seamlessly integrate material, information and cash flows. In this research, an improved framework for one-stop logistic services is systematically designed, analyzed, and evaluated. The one-stop logistic service framework, defined in four models, is developed to provide enterprises with integrated and comprehensive services within the global supply chain context. The levels of service importance are assessed using a four categories questionnaire. This research provides a case study of the implementation of one-stop logistic services in the distribution industry and demonstrates the framework operating under different demand conditions. Finally, system dynamics causal evaluation is used to evaluate the advantages of the logistic service framework.

Supply chain logistics information collaboration (SCLIC) is the basis and premise of supply chain logistics collaboration. An effective logistics information collaboration strategy can improve enterprises’ chances of success in a new partnership in the supply chain. However, SCLIC is usually difficult to be achieved because of the complexity of the impact factor, strategy evolution process, and stability strategies. We propose an evolutionary game theory-based SCLIC strategy to solve this problem. Firstly, we build an evolutionary game model of SCLIC based on a two-echelon supply chain composed of suppliers and manufacturers. The strategy evolution game of suppliers, manufacturers, and the combination of manufacturers and suppliers are analyzed based on benefit maximization. The evolutionary stability strategy (ESS) is determined. Secondly, we analyze the impact of the relevant parameters on the strategy evolution process. And we use a comprehensive simulation to examine the efficiency of the proposed model. Finally, some managerial insights are presented for the supply chain enterprises to promote the realization of SCLIC.

Purpose With support from the dynamic capabilities theory, this paper examines the role of Cloud Computing technology use in logistics (Cloud-Supported Logistics) and its effect on business results in Lean manufacturing management (Lean Production implementation) and Supply Chain Integration contexts. Design/methodology/approach Using the survey method, a random sample of 260 companies in intermediate positions in their supply chains was gathered from a population of 1,717 Spanish companies and used to test five hypotheses. The data were collected by telephone survey using a computerised system with a response rate of 15.6% (260 valid questionnaires). Structural equation modelling was used to test the five proposed hypotheses. Findings The findings indicate that Cloud-Supported Logistics use plays an important role in achieving better business results in Lean Production environments. Lean Production has been found to have both a direct effect and an even more powerful indirect effect on performance through the Cloud-Supported Logistics and Supply Chain Integration that these technologies produce. Supply Chain Integration is also found to have a mediating effect in the Cloud-Supported Logistics–performance relationship. Originality/value This study is valuable for academics and practitioners as it provides evidence of the relevant role played by Cloud-Supported Logistics in Lean Production implementation contexts. Cloud-Supported Logistics and Lean Production are strategically and operationally linked and their joint use results in Supply Chain Integration and better business performance.

The rapid development of e-commerce and the prosperity of express delivery has brought great convenience to people’s life. However, the environmental and social problems caused by express delivery packaging (EDP) have not been well understood yet. It has become an important issue to coordinate the economic, environmental, and social development goals of the government for the sustainable development of the EDP. This paper adopted the system dynamics (SD) method to simulate three subsystems in the express delivery packaging supply chain (EDPSC), i.e., the manufacturer subsystem, the consumer subsystem, and the recycler subsystem. Particularly, the impact of government subsidies on the EDPSC from three dimensions of economy, environment, and society was discussed in this paper. The results showed that (1) CO2 emissions in the end-of-life stage of EDPSC account for about 83.9–91.8%, and incineration as the main carbon emission source of end-of-life reduce by 10–19% compared with no government subsidy. (2) The profit of recyclers is most affected by government subsidies, and incineration power generation is one of the main economic sources for recyclers. As the recycling rate of EDP increased from 2 to 32%, the income from incineration power generation decreased from about 25–40% to 15–25% of the total income. (3) The implementation of government subsidies is beneficial to improve social welfare, which has the biggest impact on consumers’ surplus. (4) The comprehensive scenario subsidy is better than the single scenario subsidy, but it will bring a serious cost burden to the government. In the single scenario, the target of government subsidy depends on the level of government subsidy, which is subsidized to consumers at low and medium levels and recyclers at high levels. Therefore, our results can be used to help governments make decisions and also serve as a methodological reference for supply chains in other industries.

COVID-19 is the greatest biological catastrophe of the XXI century. For the first time in history vaccines from five different biotechnological platforms were approved within a year from the start of the pandemic. However, vaccination entails huge logistics challenges. One of them is developing a vaccine distribution plan to achieve equal immunity at different levels and structures of the health sector. The vaccination program effectiveness becomes more complex due to Peru's huge environmental, social, and economic diversity. The methodology used is empirical and explanatory in nature. The data collection instruments were applied to health professionals in Peru. To find vaccination effectiveness perception, a Likert scale questionnaire on the vaccination process planning, communication, logistics, and effectiveness was used. Results indicate that there is a significant influence between almost all the study variables, except for the Planning-Effectiveness relationship which requires logistics and communication as facilitators to become significant.

This paper analyzes a problem processing mechanism in a new collaboration system between the main manufacturer and the supplier in the "main manufacturer-supplier" mode, which has been widely applied in the collaborative development management of the complex product. This paper adopts the collaboration theory, the evolutionary game theory and numerical simulation to analyze the decision-making mechanism where one upstream supplier and one downstream manufacturer must process an unpredicted problem without any advance contract in common. Results show that both players' decision-makings are in some correlation with the initial state, income impact coefficients, and dealing cost. It is worth noting that only the initial state influences the final decision, while income impact coefficients and dealing cost just influence the decision process. This paper shows reasonable and practical suggestions for the manufacturer and supplier in a new collaboration system for the first time and is dedicated to the managerial implications on reducing risks of processing problems.

Government regulation and policy strategies play very important roles in environmental pollution control. In this study on the evolutionary game theories and the relationship between the government, businesses, and the overall interests of society, we build two system dynamics-based tripartite evolutionary game models: a government environmental regulation-static punishment model and a dynamic punishment model. By factoring various policy strategies in the two models, including adjustments to the “Budget of pollution inspection”, “Reward for no pollution discharge”, “Enterprise production gain”, and “Punishment coefficient” and additional combinations of the adjustment schemes; this study observes the changes in the action and the data outputs of the two models. Finally, the operation of the two models under the same policy strategy is compared and analyzed. The results show that loss of integrated social benefit and the type of punishment mechanism will significantly impact the selection of the environmental regulation strategies. However, compared with a single strategy, a combination of policy strategies could work better in promoting the environmental regulatory model to achieve an “ideal state”.

This study examined green servitization as a strategy for supporting flexible and sustainable supply chain management. In doing so, it explores drivers and challenges of reverse logistics services implementation on computer and electronics industry practitioners. Concurrently, the paper aims to disclose how computer and electronics industry practitioners can achieve sustainable end-of-life product recovery through green servitization, and using reverse logistics services. A subset of supporting questions are also discussed to find what challenges computer and electronics industry practitioners face in their design and implementation of reverse logistics services, and to explore sustainability characteristics of such services. The main findings are drawn from seven case studies identified through a systematic literature review on scholarly databases and contribute to the existing body of knowledge on green servitization and sustainable supply chains. Managerial contributions are seen within a conceptual framework, which provides some genuine insights into implementation practices for industry stakeholders concerned in flexible supply chain designs that retain value from waste of electrical and electronic equipment.

This paper analyzes the existing distribution modes adopted by China's e-commerce enterprises. Based on the empirical analysis of the electronic mall at JD.com (Jing-Dong), this paper compares and investigates the different logistics distribution modes faced by e-commerce enterprises embracing the new features, new challenges, and new advantages of big data. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method and entropy value are applied to investigate the e-commerce enterprise distribution choice mode and the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method is used to verify the model. Our research analysis and results bear strong managerial insights for e-commerce logistics distribution practitioners.

An ontology-based patent roadmap and valuation analysis approach provides competitive foresights for a corporation’s associated patent portfolios and the underlying business processes. To demonstrate the methodology and computer supported analysis system, the patent portfolios of two global smart e-retailers are compared. The patents in each company’s portfolio are text mined and categorized based on the smart retailing ontology schema. Both cases’ text mining results are plotted as patent portfolio roadmaps, linking patents to innovation categories, commercial applications, and business process models. The three-dimensional (3-D) patent valuation analysis method provides foresights of the companies’ competitive advantages related to “patent scope” (PS), “patent importance” (PI), and “patent innovation” (PIN). The research implements a computer supported system to provide evidence how companies utilize patent portfolios as key strategies for protecting business related intellectual properties (IPs) while implementing sustainable and competitive business processes.

This study applies a systems thinking approach to sustainment-phase redesign planning for large-scale, complex, sustainment-dominated systems (SDSs) found in the airline, aerospace and defense, healthcare, and utilities industries. Maintaining the SDS’s effectiveness throughout its long life presents a significant engineering and business challenge. This research contributes to the literature by developing an academically rigorous redesign-planning framework (RPF) through the lens of management and systems theories and the use of the grounded theory, research methodology. With the RPF, engineering managers can now simultaneously consider key issues, improvement opportunities, and risks of SDSs to develop and execute strategic, sustainment redesign plans that improve SDS performance at a lower lifecycle cost.

Industry 4.0 enables the management of factories manufacturing products with complexity and flexibility. The corresponding logistic services must provide greater accuracy and efficiency in logistic operations. The Internet of Things (IoT) is an important aspect for smart logistics in the context of Industry 4.0. For instance, intelligent logistics models use IoT integrated technologies, e.g. radio frequency identification (RFID), wireless sensor network (WSN) and cloud computing, to enhance the traceability and decision supports of logistic processes in real-time speed, high accuracy, and flexibility. This research focuses on analyzing the related technology roadmaps for the adoption of IoT technologies in smart logistic services. A case research is conducted specifically to identify the relationship between IoT-oriented technologies and deployed advanced logistic services. The logistic operations are organized into an ontology schema based on a four level service framework. The research proposes a roadmap approach to visualize the patent allocations and evolutions corresponding to logistic services at each level. Although the patent roadmap methodology is generic, this research focuses on the two industry leaders, which are UPS and IBM. Using the roadmap methodology, the IoT enabled smart logistic patents are analyzed to identify technology-related business strengths and strategies.

Logistics firms play an important role in the economy but they have received little attention in strategic management and logistics management literature. This paper intends to fill in this gap by looking a specific strategising process, innovation, at an international third party logistics (TPL) firm. Using strategy as a practice perspective, the paper describes and analyses how innovation emerges and evolves over time. Drawing on an in-depth longitudinal case study of an international TPL firm, this study shows that intra-organisational interactions as well as inter-organisational interactions are essential in the innovation process at logistics firms. The innovation process at logistics firms is complicated and includes both top-down and bottom-up processes. It is vertically decoupled and multidirectional. Innovation at logistics firms emerges as a combination of an ad hoc response to a customer request and a purpose-driven interactive process.

The fierce global competition and market turbulence has been forcing the enterprises towards to the integration and intelligence for supply chain management, and the seamless information sharing and collaboration as well as operation agility are the challenges which need to be conquered, in terms of the highly distributed and heterogeneous resources located in separated warehouses. Although a number of works have been done to achieve the aforementioned targets, few of them are able to provide an overall integration and intelligence support for such system management. In this context, a novel intelligent supply chain integration and management system based on Cloud of Things is presented, in order to provide flexible and agile approaches to facilitate the resource sharing and participant collaboration in the whole supply chain life cycle. Furthermore, the enabling technologies, such as intelligent supply chain condition perception, heterogeneous network access convergence, and resource servicisation, are also studied. Finally, a case study together with the prototype system is implemented and demonstrates that the developed system can efficiently realise the integration of supply chain processes in the form of services, and also provide the effective intelligence support for physical resource management, so as to achieve an overall performance assurance for the system operation.

Internet of Things (IoT) has provided a promising opportunity to build powerful industrial systems and applications by leveraging the growing ubiquity of radio-frequency identification (RFID), and wireless, mobile, and sensor devices. A wide range of industrial IoT applications have been developed and deployed in recent years. In an effort to understand the development of IoT in industries, this paper reviews the current research of IoT, key enabling technologies, major IoT applications in industries, and identifies research trends and challenges. A main contribution of this review paper is that it summarizes the current state-of-the-art IoT in industries systematically.

The advent of Internet of Things (IoT) has kindled the possibility of umpteen number of applications. One of the major challenges in the realization of IoT applications is interoperability among various IoT entities. Thus, the need for a new architecture - comprising of smart control and actuation - has been identified by many researchers. In this article, we propose a distributed, interoperable architecture for IoT, which will overcome most of the obstacles in the process of large scale expansion of IoT. It specifically addresses heterogeneity of IoT devices, and enables seamless addition of new devices across applications. We propose a layered architecture that provides various levels of abstraction to tackle the issues such as, scalability, heterogeneity and interoperability. Using a comprehensive study of a use-cases, comprising elements from multiple-application domains, we illustrate the usability of the proposed architecture.

This paper discusses about the design of ICT based one-stop service model with case studies on government institution in Indonesia. These institution has 30 kind of licensing services which operated by different licensing unit. There are three models of one-stop services proposed by the different businesses process. By looking at existing conditions, then compare the advantages and disadvantages of each model, then resulting feasible recommendations to be applied at this time. ICT elements are incorporated into the business processes to improve the service quality become more transparent, fast, and accurate.

International freight transport is the foundation of global trade, repre-senting a large and growing industry where various stakeholders collaborate to transport goods around the world. The ICT infrastructures currently employed throughout logistics business networks are limited and the use of manual sys-tems is common. This drastically hampers the operational efficiency of logistic service providers, carriers, and the various other stakeholders involved in transport processes. This paper presents an initial conceptual architecture for an ICT platform to overcome these deficiencies. The architecture is built on top of Future Internet technologies that provide generic capabilities for the efficient and effective development of cloud-based applications based on the Internet of Services, Internet of Things, and Internet of Contents with integrated security and privacy mechanisms.

This note has discussed e results of a 2007 survey of the CEOs of twenty-one of the largest 3PL service providers operating in the North American marketplace. Collectively these companies generated more than $30 billion in North American 3PL revenues during 2006. All but four of those companies met their revenue growth projections in 2006, and only one reported that his company was unprofitable during the year. That was the first time in four years that any of the participants in the North American survey had reported that his company had been unprofitable in that market. Sixteen of the companies provide 3PL services in Mexico, and on average they generate approximately 5 percent of their North American revenues in Mexico. The CEOs of at least two-thirds of these companies indicated that their companies have been very successful or successful in not only establishing their company brands in Mexico, but also penetrating the market, and generating operating profits in the country. As a group these companies are also quite bullish about the next three-year period for both their companies and the North American 3PL industry. On average, they projected that the revenue base of their companies would grow by 12.91 percent during 2007, and that their revenue growth rates would average 13.2 percent per year over the next three years. Their projections for revenue growth in the North American 3PL industry for the one- and three- year periods were estimated at 11. 1 percent and 11.4 percent respectively. It is interesting to note that the average company revenue projections were lower in both cases than last year, but the industry projections were slightly higher than those recorded in last year's survey. While slightly less than one-quarter of the CEOs reported their companies were involved in significant merger/acquisition activity during the past year, nearly all respondents believed that the consolidation movement will continue in the North American 3PL industry, and that the involvement of private equity companies in the industry will act as a further stimulus to that movement. Nearly two-thirds of the CEOs involved in the survey believe the involvement of PE companies in the 3PL industry is a positive development due to the related infusion of capital that it might bring into the industry. Those who think that PE involvement is a negative development are primarily concerned about the possible short-term focus of such companies and that the impact of a cost-focused restructuring of 3PL service providers might lead to a deterioration of service quality within the industry. Obviously, a continuation of the consolidation movement will not only lead to the emergence of even larger competitors in the marketplace, but will also bring with it significant integration issues post-acquisition. It is also likely that it will lead to niche market opportunities for smaller providers to service accounts that may no longer be of interest to the larger companies. Many of the companies involved in the survey have launched new branding initiatives to not only differentiate themselves in the market-place, but also to eliminate any brand confusion that might have developed in the aftermath of the many mergers and acquisitions that have taken place during the past several years. Half of the CEOs involved in the 2007 survey believe there is growing interest in the concept of fourth-party logistics in the North American 3PL marketplace, and that interest is directly related to the growing size and complexity of recent 3PL contracts. On average, 10 percent of the customers of these companies are "committed" to using conducting RFID technology in their logistics operations, and fewer than 9 percent of them are conducting RFID pilots. When asked why they believe the RFID adoption rate has lagged behind the rates projected several years ago, the CEOs generally cited cost considerations and the lack of demonstrated value associated with adoption of the technology. The CEOs continue to rank continuing downward pressure on pricing as the most important North American 3PL market dynamic. Based upon the results of our 2007 surveys in Europe and Asia, price compression in the industry continues to be a major issue throughout the world. This issue appears to be growing in importance as nearly all of the North American 3PL CEOs indicated that procurement professionals are increasingly involved in the 3PL selection process, and that they tend to be much more focused on pricing issues than the value being generated for their companies through the 3PL relationship. Among the other important dynamics discussed by the respondents were growing customer interest in outsourcing a broader array of logistics services, and ongoing pressures for 3PL service providers to internationalize their service offerings. The respondents, in recognition of the continuing globalization of the 3PL industry, again selected,further expansion of international services as the most significant opportunity for 3PL service providers in North America, followed by opportunities related to selling more deeply into their existing client base, and offering enhanced IT solutions to their clients. Not surprisingly, the CEOs identifiedfinding and keeping management talent not only as the major problem in the North American market-place, but also as the major management challenge facing the industry. This is a very important problem not only in terms of being able to manage growth effectively, but also in terms of being able to manage the customer interface in such a way as to support building long-term collaborative working relationships with key customers. Not surprisingly, more than two-thirds of these companies initiated new recruiting, training, and retention programs during the past year.

Long term success requires, a company must monitor and strategically reengineer operating process to match the constantly business environment. Companies are developing Build-to-Order (BTO) and Customization-to-Order (CTO) processes with integrated information flows (via a business hub) and material flows (via a logistics hub) ensure long term success. This research analyzes the processes for an integrated hub model with the functional goals to shorten supply chain process the flows, to reduce inventory cost, and to ensure information transparency during material flow and distribution. This research presents the proposal hub model for an automotive industry case that accounts for changing industry sector trends.

This paper reports results from a study designed to assess the extent to which firms across industries and several countries lay the groundwork for and use customer value insight, supply chain learning, and innovation processes. The cross-sectional study serves as an exploration of the theoretical relationships among these activities and their impact on perceptions of organizational performance. Through an international survey study drawing on samples from the U.S., Sweden and Denmark, the authors find support for the notions that supply chain learning and innovation processes are driven by processes aimed at studying changes in customer value and contribute to perceptions of superior organizational performance. These findings have significant implications for logistics and supply chain management.

This paper provides an overview of logistics research that has been carried out by Chinese academics in the timeframe 1990–2010 using content-based analysis. It is shown that the study of logistics has evolved quite a bit, but that the core concern of logistics study for China’s researchers is the physical movement of goods, while the primarily focus for international researchers has shifted to supply chain and management. China’s approaches to the geography of logistics are however evolving, but as yet have not embraced the ‘supply chain’ perspectives. Here important future research opportunities can be identified.

Research in third-party logistics (3 PL) has expanded rapidly in the past fifteen years, providing a significant amount of empirical, survey-based 3PL research. The authors identify forty-five such papers and then examine topics, methodologies, and analytical approaches to assess opportunities for future research in the field. As is common during the emerging stages of a research stream, the authors find that much of the current 3PL literature has been exploratory in nature. The authors subsequently present several possible directions for enriching the field for both researchers and practitioners, including the integration of extant theory and the use of more advanced methodologies and statistical analyses.

E-Government has a very close relationship with service administration. In order to offer an all-round, custom-made and high efficient service by achieving this creative interactive pattern, it is necessary to transform the administration concept and service faculty of the government and reconstruct the government organizational structure and work assembly line. Service procedures must be set up. Targets of service enterprises, institutions, and citizens are consumers of public products that are supposed to be the object of government service. Government agencies should strengthen horizontal connections so as to offer a swift and efficient service called "integrated service".

Virtual logistics and the Fourth Party Logistics (4PL) explore the trends of logistics at different aspects. How to integrate virtual logistics with 4PL is discussed in this paper. In recent years, the information construction of logistics of our country steps into the fast-developing way. It is to improving enterprise's logistics information handling capacity of promotion, accelerating the market response speed, extending and serving, raising the operation efficiency of the logistics, reducing the cost of logistics plays an enormous role. In the existing foundation of our country, however, the comparatively complete and meeting the market demand information platform was not exist. So there are very great demands on comprehensive information platform on the market. On the basis of the realistic demand, this text described the analysis that several questions that should notice in the integrated information service platform construction of the regional international logistics have carried on the system, and explained the shut-down technology involved in this platform of construction.

Nowadays, the mode of “one building for all services” has been adopted by general China's local governments and many Government Service Centers (GSC) were established, this shows the sinicization of one-stop government. The establishment of China's GSC is the outcome of the reform of administrative approval, the establishment of service-oriented government and the e-Government. Its main target is to realize one-stop approval. By analyzing the condition of the reality and perusing the ideal, this thesis discusses the perspectives of one-stop government as well as the case of the GSC of the People's Government of Jilin Province and explores some barriers to the ideal of one-stop approval in local governments of China.

Enterprises in Taiwan are facing global competition which requires enterprises to implement sound business models and maintain effective operational processes. The most pressing need is to develop global logistic processes and models that satisfy rapidly changing business and operational objectives. This research studies how the automotive industry in Taiwan has adopted its logistic hubs to improve international business operations and objectives. In the first phase of the study, Taiwan automotive firms were surveyed and their current (as-is) logistic models were derived. In the second phase, based on the industry characteristics and the company's global strategy, the improved (to-be) logistic processes were derived. Further, a case of Taiwan automobile manufacturers is used to apply and demonstrate the to-be logistic models and evaluate the performance of the proposed models. The resulting framework for a global logistic hub is designed to improve the operations of automotive companies with respect to time and cost, as well as to ensure information sharing among automotive supply chain partners.

With the development and integration of the global supply chain, manufacturing industries are rapidly adjusting their modes of operation within and between enterprises. Existing manufacturing processes are being improved to meet the requirements of lean and agile manufacturing, and suppliers are given additional responsibilities to provide parts and services dynamically. An enterprise must strategically re-engineer its operations model to face the rapid changes of the global market place. This paper identifies prevailing challenges and highlights a future vision of the global logistics management framework for the automotive industry. An integrated business and logistics hub (IBLH) model integrating information flows (via the business hub) and material flows (via the logistics hub) is presented. This research uses the case of a Taiwan automobile parts and assembly manufacturer to analyse the processes of the IBLH. The goals of the case are to shorten supply chain processes, reduce inventory costs, and ensure information transparency during material flow and product distribution. Finally, this research provides suggestions to depict the case company's current limitations and deficiencies, and presents a future plan for e-logistics services.

With the rapid development of China's network economy, the strong demand for the types and personalization of logistics services is increasing, thus they embody an evident trend of network and socialization. The integration of Internet of Things technology is exactly to meet this trend, therefore, a new intelligently networked logistics service mode called “cloud logistics” has been proposed under the environment of IoT in this paper, which can provide services on demand. We analyze the concept, operating principle and features of cloud logistics. Then, the cloud logistics-based One-stop Service Platform for logistics center has been put forward. Through a unified, centralized, intelligent management and operation of cloud logistics platform, we can provide the supply chain users with comprehensive, fast and efficient logistics services. In addition, on the basis of research on the one-stop service platform architecture, a platform instance is also presented.

This paper reports on an empirical study that examined a suite of distribution and logistics services commonly used to manage inbound materials en route to plants. The sourcing decision is examined through the lenses of transaction cost economics and the resource-based view of the firm and the results lend limited support for both theories in the context of such services. Results further indicate that there is little evidence supporting differences between internal versus external decision-makers.

Given the growing complexity of consumer preferences and the underlying market advantages of addressing these preferences, manufacturers and logistic service providers constantly monitor supply chain efficiency and quality requirements. Third-party logistic services are offered as a means to attract customers and enhance competitiveness as long as these services are effectively integrated into the order fullfilment processes. This research uses customer preference attributes to define distinctive dilivery and distribution of orders. The clustering and classification methods provide decision support capabilities to logistics providers so that they can adapt processes to satisfy specific customer preferences. A K-means clustering algorithm clusters customers’ orders using demand attributes. Second, a decision tree classification approach analyzes each cluster segment using the history of consumer order preferences. Thus, the cluster results are the input data for the classification of logistics operations. The logistics service provider’s delivery services are tailored to satisfy each customer’s order requirements and preferences.

Based on the status quo of China's logistics industry, this paper indicates that the structural contradiction of the logistics supply-demand be attributed to the unsteady development of logistics industry. Integrating logistics resources is the everlasting topic and intrinsic requirement for logistics development, whereas logistics networking is the essential approach to achieve logistics resources integration. In this paper, principal meaning and connotation of networked logistics is presented from three medium views, embodying in logistics infrastructure network, logistics organization network and logistics information network. According to this thought, the paper argues that establishing networked logistics service system be an effective path to the sustainable development of logistics industry. Several suggestions for prospering logistics development in China are put forward in the end.

This study used the support of extant theory to propose that there are significant differences in the postures of firms that include logistics providers in their supply chain management efforts versus those that do not. Further, we identified four supply chain management constructs as being important factors in predicting firm performance, and then compared their levels of perceived importance of these factors across the two groups of firms. Our analysis supports the premise that information integration, 3PL selection criteria, performance evaluation, and relationship building are positively correlated with firm performance. Also, our results show that firms that include 3PLs in their supply chain management efforts emphasize certain supply chain management constructs to a higher extent compared to firms that exclude 3PLs in their supply chain management efforts. The results of this study can be used in a Pareto sense of focusing on a few vital factors that can enhance firm performance.

Currently, there are still a lot problems in the supply chain dominated by the third-party logistics like the over storing, long producing, and slow reacting problems. The current researches mainly focus on the integration of information flow and logistics flow or the integration of information flow and capital follow. This paper tries to establish a systematic integration system by integrating the information flow, the logictics flow and the capital flow. Firstly, this paper made integrated analysis on the supply chain, then identified the basis, key and assurance for the supply chain integration, and put forward the integration management operation pattern of supply chain dominated by the third party. Finally, this paper analyzed the priority of this operation pattern and its meanings in the supply chain management.

Global enterprises require extended logistics operations that integrate channel intermediaries into the network. The method for deriving integrated models for logistics hubs that improve the efficiency of manufacturers' global operations is the focus of this paper. Under government sponsorship, six industrial logistics hubs were implemented by leading manufacturing sectors across Taiwan over a five year period from 2004 until 2008. Each industry sector had unique industry characteristics, business strategies, and logistics models. Therefore, this paper describes how generalized and quick to implement integrated logistics hubs are developed by studying the successful reference models and systems used by six independent industrial sectors. The research results provide a field tested method for deriving integrated logistics hub models in different manufacturing economies with notes that provide sufficient methodological detail for repeating the construction of logistics hubs in other manufacturing economies.

By being a supply chain integrator who can assemble and manage the resources, capabilities, and technology of its own organization with those of complementary service providers, fourth party logistics (4PL) providers deliver comprehensive supply chain solutions and form an important option for business outsourcing. The adequate design of the partnership between companies in this type of outsourcing activities is essential. In order to support the effective usage of 4PL services, this paper proposes an analytical multiple criteria decision making approach to evaluate 4PL operating models. While decision criteria and their hierarchy were identified, it is observed that there exist interactions, e.g. simultaneous satisfaction of two or criteria is sometimes required. This situation can not be handled with traditional multi-criteria decision making methods which assume criteria independence. 2-additive Choquet integral is appropriate to model criteria interactions by pairs and is used in this study. The proposed framework is applied for a logistics company willing to expand its operations. Finally, an application is provided to demonstrate the potential of the methodology for 4PL operating model selection.

We propose an approach to implement and use one-stop healthcare service system using RFID technology in the Korean market In this system, the one-stop healthcare services are served smoothly from registration to examination, treatment) prescription, and next reservation. Necessary information is provided to patients and hospital staff anytime and anywhere by recording and processing medical data produced in each step. To provide successfully these services, the system configuration, the provision method, the value chain, the roles and benefits of each player in a value chain are stated. We revisit and prove some convexity inequalities for trace functions conjectured in the earlier part I. The main functional considered is \Phi_{p,q}(A_1,A_2,...,A_m) = (trace((\sum_{j=1}^m A_j^p)^{q/p}))^{1/q} for m positive definite operators A_j. In part I we only considered the case q=1 and proved the concavity of \Phi_{p,1} for 0 < p \leq 1 and the convexity for p=2. We conjectured the convexity of \Phi_{p,1} for 1< p < 2. Here we not only settle the unresolved case of joint convexity for 1 \leq p \leq 2, we are also able to include the parameter q\geq 1 and still retain the convexity. Among other things this leads to a definition of an L^q(L^p) norm for operators when 1 \leq p \leq 2 and a Minkowski inequality for operators on a tensor product of three Hilbert spaces -- which leads to another proof of strong subadditivity of entropy. We also prove convexity/concavity properties of some other, related functionals.
