Electromagnetic scattering from nonuniform magnetized ferrite cylinder

An analytical technique, called the scattering matrix method, is developed to analyze the scattering of a plane wave from a nonuniform ferrite cylinder. It is proved that the derived formulas for nonuniform ferrite cylinders can be degenerated to the formulas for uniform ferrite cylinders published in the literature. The influence of the longitudinal plasma wave on propagation characteristics of a metal-clad-dielectric-slab waveguide is discussed theoretically: the influences on propagating TM waves and on a surface plasma wave, respectively, appear at a wavelength shorter and longer than the plasma wavelength of the metal cladding.
