... The proposed case, therefore, promises to be the case-study model to plan the conservation of many lombard urban centres' architectural heritage, during a considered period of time, which embraces about one thousand years of history, allowing a systemic study reactions in the works according to the different parameters, and giving an indication of the brick structures' dynamics evolution in a frame of reference for buildings with similar constitution or construction period. Dealing with this specific theme, the project's study was examined in several buildings, through the following aspects [Filippini, 1722;Spada, 1881]: − the dressed stone's size and appearance used in different eras; − the mortar junction's composition and the consistency; − the construction technique of the building obtained through the arrangement and composition ...

The writing describes the whole method taken on the organization of a contest to select researchers and the outline of a method to be followed/the identification of precise degeneration of the building to be studied/the selection of researchers appropriate to the specific themes previously identified/the organization of the researches/the organization of the results in a national database/the construction of a 3D model/the use of a 3D model as database for information itself.

The essential oil, isolated by hydrodistillation from flowering tops of Artemisia coerulescens L. subsp. cretacea (Fiori) Br.-Catt. et Gubell., was investigated by GC/MS. The analyses were carried out on oils obtained from plants collected in Romagna and in Tuscany (Central Italy) in three different stages of growing cycle. The oil yield was higher from plants collected in Romagna than in those collected in Tuscany. The main components of the Romagna and Tuscan oils were α-thujone (59.6–71.0% and 32.9–39.7%), β-thujone (17.8–18.7% and 10.0–10.8%) and camphor (4.2–6.2% and 35.6–45.3%), respectively.

The experience of the Area of Medieval Archaeology at University of Siena on Ikonos-2 multispectral data has been developed in two substantial sample areas. In recent years both areas have been subject to multi-temporal analysis of vertical aerial photographs, to intensive field and aerial surveys. They therefore present an excellent opportunity for testing the potential of multistage remote sensing in combination with "traditional" methodologies for landscape analysis. In the absence of past experiences with Ikonos imagery we have used several processing routines whose effectiveness and response is well known. The results have been integrated in the archaeological GIS system where we collected most of the available data of the area: technical, thematic, historical maps, archaeological survey data, geological research, remote sensed data (vertical and oblique photography, Landsat TM), etc. The first results are definitely encouraging. Particularly, numerous traces indicated do not result visible in vertical and oblique aerial photographs.
