RFID is one of the wireless technology used as a replacement for bar codes. It has a tag and a RFID reader. A RFID tag is sometimes called a transponder which consists of a chip, memory and an antenna. RFID reader acts as both transmitter and the receiver. Hence it is very easy to deploy a Smart power system using RFID. IR sensors are built for sensing the unit from theEnergy meter. This paper explains about the Smartway of using the metering networks. It makes an easy way to pay the electricity bill by recharge method using RFID reader. It reduces the time duration and problem faced by standing in long queues at the electricity board office. Keywords---Smart metering network, Energy meter, Smart grid.

Proposes a hierarchical unit commitment (HUC) model based on the concept of RUC to improve the system security of power systems with high wind power penetration by balancing system reserve capacity against security. To prevent over-conservative solutions, HUC divides the wind power output into two intervals based on confidence levels, and uses different scheduling strategies for different intervals of wind power output. Three types of reserves, generation reserve, short-term ramping reserve, and transmission reserve, are proposed to enhance the robustness of the scheduling solutions. The generation reserve guarantees sufficient online generation capacity when the wind power generation deviates from the predicted value. The short-term ramping reserve provides sufficient ramping ability to accept rapid fluctuations in wind power output, while the transmission reserve prevents excessive overloading of transmission lines over the wind power output interval. Furthermore, some simplifications are proposed to reduce the computational complexity when considering transmission reserve. The purpose of this system is to construct a HUC model that guarantees system security while legitimately reducing reserve capacity. Keywords: Hierarchical unit commitment, RUC, uncertainty, wind power, Reserve capacity.

A hysteresis based control of a SEPIC converter is introduced in this paper. The advantage of this method is that it does not need a PWM modulator. The Routh-Hurwitz stability criterion and generalized root loci are used to find the PI gain values. The SEPIC converter is controlled using hysteresis based control which is then implemented using MATLAB and the results are presented. Index terms –Hysteresis control, SEPIC converter.

Energy demand is an increasing pressure for any government. For the developing country like India, the energy generated decides the economic growth of the country. Being the fifth largest power generator and the fourth largest power consumer in the world, energy demand and scarcity rules the country. Energy demand in our country is increasing exponentially. Energy conservation can be the best solution for the raising energy demand. Energy audit is the best solution for the energy conservation where the system is well analyzed and a report stating the possible changes in the system with no negative output is evaluated. The paper focuses on the importance of energy auditing by considering the conventional lighting loads of an educational institution and replacing with energy efficient lamps and comparing the results. KEYWORDS: Energy Demand, Energy Auditing, Lighting Loads, Energy Conservation

In this paper an attempt is made to implement modified cascaded boost converter for photovoltaic system Normally the output voltage of PV system is low which has to be stepped up to higher voltages. A normal boost converter provides low voltage gain while Cascaded boost converter provides high voltage gain. As cascaded boost converter ensures high voltage gain, the input inductor current and switching stress increases, which restrict the usage of cascaded boost topology to photovoltaic system for high power standalone applications . Modified cascaded boost topology ensures low switching stress and low input current. Simulations are carried out in Psim sowtware. simulation result proves MCBC decreases input current and switching stress while delivering high voltage gain for high power PV applications..

This paper presents a physically based model and formulation for industrial load management. Lighting is an essential service in all the industries. The power consumption by the industrial lighting varies between 2 to 10% of the total power depending on the type of industry. Innovation and continuous improvement in the field of lighting, has given rise to tremendous energy saving opportunities in this area. Lighting is an area, which provides a major scope to achieve energy efficiency at the design stage, by incorporation of modern energy efficient lamps, luminaries and gears, apart from good operational practices. It provides merely to indicate some of the options that energy auditor can consider when performing an analysis of an industry. Energy conservation and exploration of new energy avenues are the well accepted solution to fulfill the growing industrial demand in future. Implementation of energy audit can improve the plant efficiency and thereby reducing the energy wastages.
