The American Chemical Society's official Internet site, ACSWeb, and ChemCenter, the society's general site for chemistry information, integrated in August 1999. Members can conduct most of their business with ACS without ever calling or writing the national headquarters in Washington, D.C. The new format includes a password-access section that is free to registered members and includes features such as ScienceNOW. Nonmembers can also visit ChemCenter for chemistry information and society programs for students and laboratory researchers alike. Through the site's main page, visitors can search ACS publications, look for job opportunities, locate meetings of interest, take an online chemistry course, join an online discussion group, reference patents and abstracts, and learn about ACS activities and governance.
