Abstract

In the AquaTex spunlacing system from Fleissner GmbH, the textile to be treated is supported on a perforated belt or drum and transported under a water curtain consisting of continuously emerging water jets at a pressure of up to 20 MPa (200 bar) and a speed of up to 200 m/sec. The water is removed from the material by means of suction and returned to the high-pressure pumps via a water/air separator and a multi-stage filtration system. The system is described with reference to the main machine components and the process parameters and effects. The use of the system for treating upholstery fabrics containing different fibres, denim cotton or blends, airbag materials, and apparel fabrics made from cotton, viscose or blends is discussed.
