Abstract

Optimal relationships are obtained for the thickness and width of coil windings of Maxwell and Helmgolz type for magnetic field gradient. These relationships depend on the required area of the cross-section of these coil windings. Initial formula and graph dependences are presented to calculate the devices, measuring the magnetic field gradient. These measuring devices contain a system of Maxwell coils and solenoid. It is pointed out that the optimal relationship between the width and the thickness of Maxwell coil windings depends on the area of the cross-section and is associated with both the value of maximum field gradient required and its uniformity.
