Abstract

This article presents some reflections on cultural exchanges between the Portuguese composer Fernando Lopes-Graça and some Brazilian musicians such as César Guerra-Peixe, Cláudio Santoro, Camargo Guarnieri e Mozart de Araújo, during the fifties. This research departed from the analysis of an important document titled Conversa com Fernando Lopes Graça, published in Brazil in 1951 and in Portugal in 1952, which was the starting point for this exchange. We departed from the idea that during that period Lopes-Graça contributed towards an approximation between two different generations of Brazilian composers.
