Abstract

The article analyzes some aspects of the relationship between writing and speech and the meaning of the writingas the cultural foundation.The author also addresses the notion of the humanist culture. Scholarship cannot, in his opinion, be separated from culture, while culture should not be considered a sphere of theater, visual arts and literary fiction.Though imagination which produces fiction is an integral part of human nature. This attribute of our psyche should not be eliminated nor depreciated.The author presents various problems from the history of writing, pointing among otherthings to imperfection of alphabetic writingand failures at the reform of inscription, especially inconsistencies of various spelling rules.
