Backfill solutions for conductors fastening at deposits of Republic Sakha (Yakutia)

Conditions of drilling under the conductor at petroleum, gas and gas-condensate deposits of Republic Sakha (Yakutia) are considered. Disadvantages of a direct one-stage way of conductor cementation with application of a cross grouting are given. Various additives to backfill solution are considered. Recommendations for the conductor cementation, which realization will allow to liquidate absorption at drilling, are developed.

Water injection has proceeded at a rate approximately equal to the voidage created by oil and gas production and has moved water ... [Show full abstract] upstructure creating an oil bank. Bechtel Petroleum Operations Inc., the current unit operator, drills five to ten new wells each year to fully exploit this oil bank. In 1985, the unit added wireline pressure measurements to the open-hole logging programs of these infill wells for the purpose of evaluating the net effect of injection into and production from the Main Body B reservoir. A typical well provides the opportunity to obtain 8-10 pressures from the Main Body B. To date, the Unit has measured wireline pressures in more than two dozen wells. The wireline measurements have shown a broader than expected range of formation pressures (1,600 {plus minus} psi to 4,200 {plus minus} psi). The pressures show that this is a layered reservoir with little vertical pressure communication between some of the layers. In some partsmore » of the reservoir, wireline pressures indicate horizontal continuity of the layers between wells and in other areas pressure differences between adjacent wells may indicate faults or cementation barriers. Permeabilities calculated from the sampling drawdown are the same order of magnitude as brine permeabilities obtained from core and show that higher-pressured layers of the reservoir have lower permeability. These observations fundamentally alter performance evaluation of the Main Body B waterflood.« less

[Show full abstract] whencontinuous core is an asset, the diamond drill may make economic sense. Onceproductive targets are encountered, conventional rigs become practical. The advantages, disadvantages, limitations, and possible further adaptationof this normally "hard rock" tool in a "soft rock" environment arediscussed. Introduction The purpose of this presentation is to suggest avenues where the diamonddrill might be useful in exploration for oil and natural gas. The diamond drillis primarily a "hard-rock" tool and the problems of a "soft rock" environmentare different from those normally encountered by hard rock drillers.Nevertheless, under certain geological and geographical conditions the diamonddrill offers advantages which can be of economic interest to those engaged inthe search for oil and gas. This is particularly the case for stratigraphictests in remote areas. Exploration for petroleum and natural gas and exploration for metals isconducted along the same general lines though the details vary widely. Photointerpretation, geophysics, and geological investigations indicate targetareas. Testing of these targets ultimately requires the use of drills. Wildcat wells are drilled with essentially the same drill rigs as areproduction wells. Due to the high cost of wildcatting, considerable effort hasbeen expended to effect economies. One approach has been toward slim holedrilling. Realizing fully the limitations, it is suggested that a further stepin this direction might be through use of the diamond drill. Diamond drillshave been used successfully for stratigraphic tests in some areas and withsavings in cost of as much as 50 percent. Features of diamond drills throughwhich economies may be affected, compared to rotary rigs, include lower capitalcost, smaller crews, and lighter overall and unit weights.

The Dongara oil and gas field in the onshore northern Perth Basin was discovered in 1966 by West Australian Petroleum Pty Ltd. Subsequent appraisal drilling defined an oil and gas accumulation with in-place gas of 14.3 Gm3 (508 BCF) and in-place oil of 16.6 GL (104 MMBBL). Gas in the Permian and oil in the Triassic.

Based on field estimates the successful use of PDC fishtail bits by Tenneco's Eastern Gulf Division has resulted in substantial savings. Introduction The Eastern Gulf Division of Tenneco Oil is responsible for exploring and developing oil and gas reserves offshore. Their area of responsibility ranges from Ship Shoal in the west to the Florida Keys in the east. In the past five (5) years, Tenneco has drilled over 145 wells in these areas with 121 being directional wells. Traditionally, costs associated with the drilling of offshore wells are high due to directional, logistical and climatical factors. Costs can be significantly reduced by drilling to total depth in the fewest number of days possible. For many years, Tenneco has strived to increase on bottom drilling time as a percent of total time on location; that is, to decrease non-productive time such as trips for either dull bits or trips to change bottom-hole assemblies for directional purposes. Frequent trips are required when using conventional mill tooth roller-cone bits due to their short life and right hand walk tendencies.(1,2,3) PDC fishtail bits were utilized by Tenneco to assist in obtaining their goal to decrease non-productive rig time and significantly lower drilling costs. To date, the Eastern Gulf Division has had 33 bit runs with 18 PDC bits drilling 50,231 feet. This paper will document the performance and results of PDC fishtail bits in the Ship Shoal Area offshore Louisiana. Five (5) wells, MT-I thru MT-5, drilled entirely with roller-cone bits will be compared to four (4) wells, PDC-I thru PDC-4, drilled with a combination of mill tooth and PDC bits. Geology The formations encountered in the Ship Shoal area are young sediments of Pleistocene and Pliocene age (see Figure 1). The lithology is sand and shale sequences of Pleistocene age to 7,300 feet TVD and Pliocene age to 11,000 – 12,000 feet TVD. The shales are characterized by high montmorillonite content resulting in high shale reactivity. Accordingly, cation exchange capacity (CEC) values are also high indicating the potential use of PDC fishtail bits4. The sands are generally round to subround with traces of subangular grains. Sand porosity generally exceeds 20%. The formation dip for the analyzed with the exception of Well 7° in the direction of South 43° The formations in Well PDC-l lie at toward North 45°West.
