The new 13,3 km long tunnel underneath the Wienerwald forms an important part of the new high-speed railway line of Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) between Vienna and Sankt Pölten. The 15kV 16,7Hz traction power supply and the supply of the 50Hz systems were planned and implemented based on the principles for the design of electrical engineering equipment of newly constructed tunnels in Austria. High reliability and availability form the main targets.
